test drive meme # 26
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open November 24th, and apps are open December 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROLL
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
This time, the monsters are a bit more transparent, as the Door will bring in a few skeletons! Skeletons often accompany the fear of death and can such be found as entry-level monsters in many different stories and games of all kinds.
Skeletons are well... skeletons.... but they move around like they're still alive. Some of them use weapons to make you fear death by killing you, which is cool for them I suppose. They're not particularly smart and they can be tricked very easily, but once they hone in on a victim they won't rest until they make everyone else just as dead as they are.]

SCENARIO TWO: SQUAD GOALS
[Hey, look to the guy or gal to the left or right side of you. Did you guys just become best friends?
I think you did! For the next little while, you find yourself entering into these odd platonic relationships you'd never considered before. That guy who you kind of awkwardly made eye contact with at the grocery store last week? Best friends! The lady who's friends with your roommate's sister? Inseparable pals!
This event, based off of our recent event of the same name inspires you and all your weird facebook acquaintances to suddenly feel like you're best buds. You guys will share everything together, do everything together, and just generally think the world of one another. Enjoy your new and beautiful friendship!]
S O R R O W
SCENARIO THREE: INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS
[You know that voice deep in the back of your head that you generally ignore? You know, the one that tells you that you're stupid or worthless or that you should push that old lady into traffic? Well, usually you ignore them- we know you do, because you're a decent person who doesn't experience that kind of self doubt.
Now, though, all those little voices seem to have some merit. You're not sure why, but suddenly just giving into your weirdest impulses sounds like a good idea. You'll have to fight even harder to ignore them, particularly the ones that tell you to do something. What would that guy do if you just up and punched him in the face? What about if you just broke that chick's window? You'll have to find out!
Alternatively, all those thoughts about how lame you are and how you'll never succeed at anything are a bit more believable too. Hopefully you don't have too many of those- but hey, if you do then you can always drown your sorrows away at the local bar!]
Stan Uris ( It 2017)
[ Stan really wishes he had met his life quota for weird shit happening to him. His first thought upon seeing the skeletons is, of course, this can't be real. It doesn't fit into his natural view of the world and existence, therefore he instantly tries to minimize it into his imagination.
This doesn't work well. It never does because no matter how improbable the unnatural stuff... it is very often turning out to be very, very real.
The fear that's welling inside of him, building up like a pressure cooker is hard to ignore -- if only because he's certain it's about to explode. ]
Shit.
[ And like the brilliant person he is, he just stares at the skeleton coming toward him, his feet cemented to the ground when he's sure he's telling them to start running. ]
( Scenario Three ) cw: mild suicide ideation
[ Stan's head is usually a very well-regulated and compartmentalized place. He carefully tucks away his sad thoughts, his angry thoughts, his fears and anything that makes it difficult to just get through another day (just the way he tends to do things in the physical world too). But that's all a mess right now and he's not sure why an innocent walk has turned his brain in the darkest of directions.
He keeps his heads shoved down in his pockets as he walks. What used to be his own voice telling him things is now It sometimes. It telling him that it's all quite useless and that no matter what he does that will never change.
At some point in the melancholic gaze he sits down somewhere, thoughts of jumping into traffic and off bridges floating through his head unbidden and the slight urge to do something so reckless and see what happens, but instead he pulls his hands out of his pockets, curling his fingers into tight fists and keeps himself planted in the seat.
This will pass even if he has to wrangle his entire consciousness into a box in the back of his head.
From the outside, he looks a bit distressed, tense and his face a mix of emotions that vary widely from afraid to sad to concerned. ]
( Wildcard )
[ Open to anything else you want to through my way! Up for doing something with Scenario Two, just didn't have any ideas to start off with, so feel free to plot or just shoot me something. Will match tenses/styles. ]
Three
He does miss Hachi, though. And even Nobu, and Yasu, and Nana.
Man, how does he get home from a place like this, anyway?
But his reveries are interrupted as he passes by Stan. Somebody looks way worse off than he does. So he stops and walks up to him.]
Hey, are you okay?
no subject
He doesn't manage any sort of reassuring expression when he looks up at Shin. ]
Yeah. [ A pause. ]
No. I don't know what's wrong. [ Everything, maybe, is the answer there. ]
no subject
Yea, figuring out what's wrong can be a pain.
But look, if you don't know, maybe we can cheer you up. I bet we can find some hot chocolate somewhere or something. Do you want to go get some and we can just sit if you want.
I can't promise it'll be okay, but I bet you'll get through it.
no subject
Hot chocolate would be nice.
[ He agrees after a moment of contemplation. ]
One!
Not that it'll do her much good depending on what sort of monster she's up against but it's better than nothing.
Even if Beverly has trekked down here hoping to find a friend, she's still startled into disbelief when she actually does see a familiar face. Stunned enough that it takes her longer than it ought to to realize that yes it's Stan. And he's not alone, with the oncoming skeleton moving ever closer. And Stan is definitely not moving. Well. Okay. Deep breath. And she's in motion.]
Stan!
[Just his name in the moment that she's darting towards him and grabbing for his hand to pull.] Come on! We've got to run.
no subject
Beverly? [ It's almost disbelieving, like it's harder to believe he's seeing Beverly here than that they're getting chased by skeletons. What is this place anyway? Maybe this is all a nightmare but he doesn't ask and he doesn't have time to pinch himself just now.
Her hand felt real enough and the fear was real as it had been paralyzing until she came along. ]
Tell me that you know where to run to? [ He's hoping that it's not far. ]
scenario three
It's enough that Eddie vaguely wonders if this place is messing with him again; Hadriel has been known to do that from time to time and even he understands that his mind isn't normally so shrill in pointing out the hazards of existing. He's so lost in this thought that it takes more than a second to register that the kid sitting in the distance not only looks like Stan but is Stan.]
Stan? [ Holy shit, it is him and Eddie is already making his way over, walking quickly as if to avoid his mother's voice that reminds him that running will trigger an attack and probably kill him.] Hey, when did you get here??
no subject
He stares at Eddie with the said neutral face but then it does crack something of a bit of relief coming through. ]
Not long ago, I didn't know you were here...[ Is it a good thing or a bad thing that they're here? He's not really figured that out yet and now is not the time to contemplate the question as no matter the answer he'll probably turn it into a doomsday helpless feeling that doesn't quite do anything to improve his situation.
And he might have to acknowledge the fact that he might already be missing home a bit. ]
no subject
I've been here for two whole months, so has Richie. I don't even know how that works cause I know when people turn up here they usually say something like "I only saw you yesterday" which can't be right because if I was hallucinating being here I wouldn't have hallucinated it being stuck with Richie the whole time.
[ The smallest of shrugs is given before Eddie casts a critical eye over his friend.] You look like shit, are you okay?
Sorry about the delay!
Those thoughts fade away, though, when Eddie talks more. He hadn't really thought about the time and the time that elapsed but how had they been here so long and he only a short time and yet he'd seen them right before? That didn't make sense. ]
Are you sure I'm not just insane right now?
[ Crazy people didn't usually wonder but that didn't provide him any comfort just now. ]
I don't know.
[ There's a shrug, closest he'll probably come to actually expressing the truth of the matter. ]
one;
Stan! Stanny Boy!
[ He's got a plank of wood, nothing super serious, but he is actually able to whack one of the skeletons with it before scurrying off to the side. ]
Get your ass in gear and follow me!
no subject
What...
[ He has nothing to say because that was actually cool the other hitting the skeleton. ]
Okay.
[ He's going to follow him and hopefully not get grabbed up by a skeleton because he's not sure he really trusts Richie with that plank.
And there is definitely a joke to be made coming up. ]
no subject
Good thing I found you, huh? You woulda been boned.
[ He punches Stan on the shoulder while he laughs at himself, less anger and more friendly, and after a moment decides it doesn't matter. He pulls Stan into a hug. ]
Holy fuck, I'm glad you're here.
no subject
There it is. ]
That's a shit joke.
[ But the corner of Stan's lip tugs and there's near smile as he reaches up to rub the shoulder as if it had really hurt but it didn't. ]
Where is here...exactly...?
[ He hugs Richie easily, more easily than he would have had he not just scene those abhorrent skeletons. ]
a!!
Sans would be downright offended, she thinks, to see these shams skulking around. But Sans isn't here to complain (or pun about, same difference) these wannabes. Stan is, however, here and right in their path and probably confused. She hasn't had the patience for newcomers in recent months, but she figured she might at least look to see who was dragged in this cycle.
Stan's lucky she did. ]
You can keep running, yeah? These guys look like they're pretty easy to avoid so just keep moving with me, I'll get you out of here.
no subject
They're real?
[ It's somewhere between a question and a statement as if he still hasn't quite made up his mind about it all. But he keeps moving because this woman seems to least know more than he does even if it's not real, the fear is real enough.
And plus, sounds like she knows where to go and he doesn't have much of a clue. ]
no subject
Shit is super fucked here, [ she adds, some humor to hopefully lighten the mood. ] You get kind of used to it. Sorry you got thrown into the thick of things though.
no subject
Where...
[ Maybe he should be waiting until they can stop to ask his questions but that had slipped out before he thought better of it but he's already a bit winded. ]
no subject
You're in Hadriel. The welcome wagon is usually this bumpy of a ride, so at least know you're not alone.
no subject
He's starting to feel out of breath but at least he's not the one of his friends that has asthma. ]
Uh huh.
no subject
They're out of the Colosseum before he knows it though. She's done this before, he might think. And he'd be right. ]
There we go, safe and sound. Well. Safer. This place ain't really safe, sorry to say.
no subject
Oh... [ His brow furrows and he looks around. There's nothing familiar to help him orientate himself. ]
Where is Hadriel?
