Ianchus is pretty good at the whole "unconditional love and support" thing, even/especially for closed-off types. Also heeyyyy self-hating protector buddies~~

YES PLEASE BE HIS CAROL-TYPE, he is sorely going to need it, especially as his canon updates come through in the future and he gets sadder and sadder about failing the ones he loves. The fact that Ianchus is also a self-hating protector-type will only make this work better because folks that have a bit of Daryl's life experience/behave sort of like he does tend to be able to take one look at him and recognize the shit he's been through and how much he needs emotional maintenance.

I'm trying to think of a way to scene them where Daryl isn't just a closed-off jerk, I'll get back to you on that! Probably during the Love event when he's all out of sorts, methinks?

I think Love event would probably work well, or maybe if alcohol is involved? Ianchus is pretty good at talking to different kinds of people. For the record, if you want Daryl to be jerky their first meeting that won't turn him off either, unless he really picks up on some "Look I really hate you stay the hell away" vibes.

BUT GOD, IANCHUS CAN DEFINITELY FEEL THE WHOLE 'FAILING THE ONES YOU LOVE' yeah oh my god. I think having someone who can really cling onto him helps him a lot, so ultimately they could help each other...!!

I VOTE FOR LOVE EVENT + ALCOHOL, because holy hell, getting close to Daryl is like trying to crack a safe unless they're put into crisis together and bond that way. He will most certainly be a jerk, but it'll come off in a more surly, "leave me alone, I don't deserve company" way than anything else.

He's currently beating himself up about not being able to find Sophia, and I'm considering canon-updating him at the earliest opportunity to the period of time immediately after they find her zombiefied, which will put him in a really bad place. So giving them some groundwork to build off of before that happens and he shuts down again would be cool!

And oh lord, they can bond over guilt over dead children after the fact, too. IT'S FUNNY cause Yanki was JUST DEALING with the same type of guilt so it's perfect [mushes them together]

Sooo ready for this trainwreck of grudgingly accepted affection. Daryl is so afraid of touch but the Love event is going to scramble him up so bad. JUST ENOUGH to allow him to handle stuff he'll be very confused about later. </3
