LOVE MEME | THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Hadriel 💕 Love 💕 Meme

Please allow us to say thank you for sticking with us for so long and throughout our endgame! This meme is for us all to gush over one another with our love, our farewells, and our favorite memories throughout the game.

Instructions are simple- simply top level with your name and the characters you play/played (and if you want to include a few of your favorite memories in the game, as well as a character epilogue to say what your character will be doing after the endgame, please do so!)

Go around and tag other folks, reminisce, and tell everyone how awesome they are! Players who have left the game at any time can also participate, so please come on back and let us tell you how much we enjoyed having you here!

FROM MANDA
Hey folks!

It feels weird to be saying goodbye to this game. Hadriel has been such a big part of my life for three and a half - wow, almost four? - years now, and I have to admit I'm not sure what I'm going to do without it. It's been a huge source of inspiration and creativity, an immense and sometimes difficult undertaking. There have been ups and downs, but above all, it's been so much fun.

While I had modded games before starting Hadriel, I'd never created one of my own. Building Hadriel from the ground up with Rae is something I'm always going to remember. Coming up with events every month, creating NPCs for people to love and hate, and forming an overarching plot for people to react to was a constant rollercoaster, stressful and exciting and satisfying. I really hope you all had as much fun as we did, because that's the truly rewarding part of running a game: seeing other people enjoy it.

More than anything, I want to say thank you for spending time with us. Whether it was a few months or a few years, I really deeply appreciate everyone who invested a little part of themselves, their time and energy and interest, in our game. I can't tell you how many times Rae or I posted a plot OOC post and sent frantic Discord messages back and forth because we were so delighted about how people were reacting to it. We tried our best to make a game that people could have fun in, and one that people could feel like they were affecting. I hope we succeeded, and even if we didn't, thank you for caring about our game.

I want to especially thank a few people. Kels, who continued making beautiful graphics for us even after she left the game. Alexis, who stepped in to help us with apps and NPCs when we desperately needed it. Grimme, who was kind enough to volunteer to mod the Hadriel Discord. Without them, Rae and I would have been totally overwhelmed. Not long after the game began, we agree that we weren't interested in turning it over to new mods, that when we couldn't mod anymore we would end it even if we hadn't completed the full three arcs we intended. Thanks to the help we got, we were able to go the distance, and I really, truly appreciate it.

All of our players are awesome and this game would be nothing without you. Thank you for making this big chunk of my life so fun, and I wish you luck and even more fun wherever the RP world, or life, takes you from here on. I'm going to miss Hadriel and all of you.

-Manda
FROM RAE
I can't follow up what Manda said, guys, I'm already tearing up just from reading it!!!

But please let me say from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Hadriel was my first major modding experience, and it was born out of Manda and I conspiring with one another late one night during one of our many discussions about rp in general. We weren't truly serious about it, but it was something fun to talk and DM one another about when I was at work- what would the setting be like? Who would the NPCs be? What kind of rules would we make? Eventually, after another session of excited, frantic brainstorming, I realized: oh god, we're actually going to do this.

I was really scared! I didn't think that I had it in me to bring a game to completion. Enter Manda, who was with me every step of the way. She has been the absolute rock of Hadriel, keeping everything together and encouraging me and reassuring me, even when I was going through some rough times and wasn't around much to push the game forward. I can confidently say that without Manda, the game wouldn't have survived past its second year and I owe so much to her.

And then there's all of you! This sounds weird to say, but I've never really written a story that other people have cared about before. The enthusiasm and excitement that so many of you showed while we were dropping major plot events, or the debates that you had over our moral dilemmas, or the way that all of you just consistently volunteered, showed up, and thought outside the box to bring the plot forward in ways that Manda and I hadn't anticipated... I can't even begin to explain how much that means to me. The players of Hadriel, past and present, have done so much and the game wouldn't exist without you guys! So thank you all- thank you so much for being here, and for playing in Hadriel!

We've come a long way from nervously counting the apps as they came in on October 1st, 2015, from DMing, 'do you think we have enough players?' to one another, from not being able to think of good names for our NPCs(so we just named them the obvious- neither of us are good at naming things at all, see: the Null, see: [Name], see: the game was almost called The Spires until we flipped through some angelic-sounding names in a name generator site). Both Manda and I have learned and grown so much from this game, and I hope that some of you feel the same!

You guys are so amazing and we love all of you. We wish you luck wherever you decide to go, and thank you again for bringing Hadriel to life!

...and Kat for a little bit!

It all started with a Power Ranger. It ended with amazing memories, the honor of joining the NPC team, amazing writing from all over, a fun plot with NPCs I loved, some deep and memorable CR, and a story to follow when life tried to take my world out completely. Hadriel was my home game even when I couldn't RP anymore. My writing/RP brain fizzled out, but my love for this game did not, and that's because of everyone involved. I played a good number of characters here. All of them went home, but please if you had close CR, go rescue them!

Some of my favorite memories... how to list them when they're so many!

For Emily it's her CR with Maketh, Glacius, and Carlisle as far as crosscanon CR. Em and Maketh arrived in Hadriel on the same day and became close after Maketh punched Emily in the gut :) Glacius defended Emily during the assassins event when no one else would've stood up for her, which really helped her start to change for the better. Carlisle taught her how to sew and how to glyphcraft, but he quickly became more than that. One of my top favorite threads is the one where she confesses how guilty she feels about the prank, and he acts like a counselor to her until she shuts that down because emotions are bad. BUT no she loved them. Maketh was her soldier mom. Glacius was her source of joy during Loud Valley (Lifesize Glacius Plushie!). Carlisle was her teacher and confidant. Her CR with her castmates was also excellent. She got to work through her mistakes and start to heal those relationships. It was fun. I can't say enough good things about all of her CR.

IDK I mean, I could say more about the other characters I played, but it's all basically "here read all the threads in their thread trackers, I love it all." That's how much fun I had in Hadriel.

Playing Rage and Confusion was so good. Being on the other side of NPC posts was a great experience. Challenging, fun, and rewarding. I can't thank Rae and Manda enough for letting me in on that, and for letting me scream with them about Delight's betrayal a few months before it happened. PCs' CR with the NPCs hurt me so good, and I'm deeply grateful I got to do threads with Rage and Atem.

THANK YOU, HADRIEL! Thank you everyone. I'll treasure these memories always.

And now, to hit up some toplevels. :>

I don't know where to start. You've genuinely become one of my closest friends over these last three years, I don't even remember the last day we didn't at least exchange stupid memes. As much as we joke about being twins, I do genuinely think you've become a permanent part of my heart. I love and adore you. <3

BUT NOW FOR THE RP. I've told you a million times and I will tell you a million more that your picking up Faith was one of the single highest points in RP for me because it was so much more than I ever expected to get playing a dumbass OC that I made in 2010 (Jesus Christ...). Everything we did with them was wonderful, and Lali Hoes will be my one of my favourite in jokes until I die. You're such a wizard at picking up characters' traits and fleshing them out, making them amazing, breathing people.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that I probably wouldn't have loved Emily as much as I did on watching / playing UD had I not had the chance to know you and see how you interpreted her. I told Ami this already but I do genuinely forget that Em and Chris' relationship isn't nearly as nuanced and great in canon because you two have become my one true interpretations of the characters.

RUNS OVER AND FLINGS MY STICK-LIKE ARMS AROUND YOU Emily was so good ahhh! And you are so good for always coming up with fun threads and being a great and cool person! Seriously though, Em was such a fun character to write with Glacius... just do different from him in so many ways, abrasive and scrappy, and yet the fact that she came to use these things for him and help him really feel like he had a friend and that he could belong even like humans was so heartwarming. She always believed in his ability to be good and would take no shit from anyone that would say otherwise (and just not shit from anyone in general, lol <3) and that had such a big impact on him.

Thank you for everything, friend. You have always been wonderful. Hit me up for some memes or something sometime, and I'm sure all be in touch!

Alexis ♥ I have no words for how much we appreciate all the help you've given us. Between the NPCs and the apps, you did so much when we were desperately in need of help. I loved the way you played Rage and Confusion, and I will always love Emily. Josh lived in fear of her, as it should be. You've been through a lot since you joined Hadriel, and you definitely deserve a big break and a nice vacation. You're one of the most dedicated and hardworking people around. Thank you so much for joining us back in the day, I'm glad that I was able to get to know you.

Brennane was one of my very favorite characters when I first joined—her straightforward bluntness made for some really hilarious moments, but she also had some really lovely touching threads as well. I really enjoyed several of your other characters too (Emily's coffee cart post was also A+ funny). And it's been great to get to know you, too. I'm really glad we crossed RP paths. <3
