LOVE MEME | THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Hadriel 💕 Love 💕 Meme
Please allow us to say thank you for sticking with us for so long and throughout our endgame! This meme is for us all to gush over one another with our love, our farewells, and our favorite memories throughout the game.
Instructions are simple- simply top level with your name and the characters you play/played (and if you want to include a few of your favorite memories in the game, as well as a character epilogue to say what your character will be doing after the endgame, please do so!)
Go around and tag other folks, reminisce, and tell everyone how awesome they are! Players who have left the game at any time can also participate, so please come on back and let us tell you how much we enjoyed having you here!
FROM MANDA
Hey folks!FROM RAE
It feels weird to be saying goodbye to this game. Hadriel has been such a big part of my life for three and a half - wow, almost four? - years now, and I have to admit I'm not sure what I'm going to do without it. It's been a huge source of inspiration and creativity, an immense and sometimes difficult undertaking. There have been ups and downs, but above all, it's been so much fun.
While I had modded games before starting Hadriel, I'd never created one of my own. Building Hadriel from the ground up with Rae is something I'm always going to remember. Coming up with events every month, creating NPCs for people to love and hate, and forming an overarching plot for people to react to was a constant rollercoaster, stressful and exciting and satisfying. I really hope you all had as much fun as we did, because that's the truly rewarding part of running a game: seeing other people enjoy it.
More than anything, I want to say thank you for spending time with us. Whether it was a few months or a few years, I really deeply appreciate everyone who invested a little part of themselves, their time and energy and interest, in our game. I can't tell you how many times Rae or I posted a plot OOC post and sent frantic Discord messages back and forth because we were so delighted about how people were reacting to it. We tried our best to make a game that people could have fun in, and one that people could feel like they were affecting. I hope we succeeded, and even if we didn't, thank you for caring about our game.
I want to especially thank a few people. Kels, who continued making beautiful graphics for us even after she left the game. Alexis, who stepped in to help us with apps and NPCs when we desperately needed it. Grimme, who was kind enough to volunteer to mod the Hadriel Discord. Without them, Rae and I would have been totally overwhelmed. Not long after the game began, we agree that we weren't interested in turning it over to new mods, that when we couldn't mod anymore we would end it even if we hadn't completed the full three arcs we intended. Thanks to the help we got, we were able to go the distance, and I really, truly appreciate it.
All of our players are awesome and this game would be nothing without you. Thank you for making this big chunk of my life so fun, and I wish you luck and even more fun wherever the RP world, or life, takes you from here on. I'm going to miss Hadriel and all of you.
-Manda
I can't follow up what Manda said, guys, I'm already tearing up just from reading it!!!
But please let me say from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Hadriel was my first major modding experience, and it was born out of Manda and I conspiring with one another late one night during one of our many discussions about rp in general. We weren't truly serious about it, but it was something fun to talk and DM one another about when I was at work- what would the setting be like? Who would the NPCs be? What kind of rules would we make? Eventually, after another session of excited, frantic brainstorming, I realized: oh god, we're actually going to do this.
I was really scared! I didn't think that I had it in me to bring a game to completion. Enter Manda, who was with me every step of the way. She has been the absolute rock of Hadriel, keeping everything together and encouraging me and reassuring me, even when I was going through some rough times and wasn't around much to push the game forward. I can confidently say that without Manda, the game wouldn't have survived past its second year and I owe so much to her.
And then there's all of you! This sounds weird to say, but I've never really written a story that other people have cared about before. The enthusiasm and excitement that so many of you showed while we were dropping major plot events, or the debates that you had over our moral dilemmas, or the way that all of you just consistently volunteered, showed up, and thought outside the box to bring the plot forward in ways that Manda and I hadn't anticipated... I can't even begin to explain how much that means to me. The players of Hadriel, past and present, have done so much and the game wouldn't exist without you guys! So thank you all- thank you so much for being here, and for playing in Hadriel!
We've come a long way from nervously counting the apps as they came in on October 1st, 2015, from DMing, 'do you think we have enough players?' to one another, from not being able to think of good names for our NPCs(so we just named them the obvious- neither of us are good at naming things at all, see: the Null, see: [Name], see: the game was almost called The Spires until we flipped through some angelic-sounding names in a name generator site). Both Manda and I have learned and grown so much from this game, and I hope that some of you feel the same!
You guys are so amazing and we love all of you. We wish you luck wherever you decide to go, and thank you again for bringing Hadriel to life!
-Rae

Alex | Nathan "Death Wish" Drake + Maeve Millay
Hadriel was the first game I joined after an eight-year stint at my previous one, thereby making it the second game I've ever played in on DreamWidth (contain your shock). I know this sounds absolutely buck-wild insane, but it's true. I was really nervous about coming here. I'd never played in another game and the only line of contact I had was Kai, who assured me it was super rad and that I could bring an idiot who sometimes knew what he was doing, and I anxiously applied.
I am so, so glad that I did.
In spite of my fears this place has been nothing but warm and welcoming from the get-go, with amazingly communicative and open mods, who answered all of my really annoying, nitpicky questions about very specific details, and phenomenal players who have become truly awesome, close friends. I'm sad this game is ending because I've loved being able to engage with it so much, but as a narrative I think it's run its course in an admirable, succinct, and ultimately satisfying way.
Maeve had a brief but really wonderful run here, and I think external factors were the cause of me not being able to maintain two folks at once, but I still absolutely love the characters she got to interact with and the very strange, different relationships she was able to develop in those months. We'll say she went back to Westworld, if only to fuck everybody up.
Nate, on the other hand, has undergone some positively mindblowing development in this game that I never expected to get with him, nor did I set out to get it in the first place. I just wanted a place to throw this Rowdy, Dirty Boy, and Hadriel delivered. Nate has spent a lot of time exploring crazy, ancient places on his own, but having him here threw him wildly out of his comfort zone and forced him to socialize in outrageous scenarios and meet equally outrageous people. Some of his closest CR was with the Taaco twins, Lance Sweets, Staci Pratt and Nick Valentine. He made respected acquaintances in Agent Maine, Agent Washington, Kyna Midha and Poe Dameron. He made so many friends, so please trust me when I say that's not an easy feat for him.
By completely random happenstance I decided to ask the mods what Nate would find if he went diving in the creepy lake because he was desperately bored, and in turn they rewarded us with some meta-plot and backstory that wasn't elucidated on before, which became this rabbit hole of stuff to explore. I feel humbled and honored that Nate got to do what he's good at: exploring strange places, finding critically important things in very on-brand ways, and learning to navigate within group environments.
Nate went from being skeptical about everyone in the room while managing a hiding space for a small, rogue robot, to organizing large expeditions of his own accord, reaching out to people and engaging them proactively, altruistically. Up until this point, Nate's canonical adventures were generally pet projects that he satisfied with one or two other people, if he brought other people along at all. I'm so grateful that Nate got to make close friends he could share his trust and past with - a difficult thing - and became something of a leader in his own right, someone that people actively looked to with questions even if he couldn't always answer them. It was a really beautiful arc to play, and I am mad proud of this lad.
He'll go home, and wrap up the pirate adventure with his wife, his brother, and his best friend. He and Elena will buy the salvage company Nate worked at and turn it into a new organization, D&F Fortunes, and travel the world pulling up treasures from beneath the ocean as marine archaeologists. They'll have a little girl, named after Nate's mother. They'll be just fine.
Thank you all so much for this game experience and for the friendships I've made! Please don't be shy about keeping in touch on plurk, where you can find me at

Before Hadriel, I knew you but I was like... fucking intimidated by you? We met in Eway even back when I was playing there my FIRST go around when Evie was newer, but it was really this game that I feel like I got to finally become your friend. Nate and Taako is literally tip top on my favorite CR for this game and if you think they're not gonna kick down the dimensional door and go harass their niece because they've dubbed themselves officially related. Taako will call himself Nate's ex. They're gonna teach her magic and not tell Nate until she's using mage hand to steal cookies. Don't even test him.
Seriously though I could never have imagined their CR would build to such an incredible place, and thank you thank you THANK YOU for the amazing times we've had. I'm gonna remember these dumb boys forever and I have you to thank <3

(If Taako and Lup don't show up in New Orleans to see their precocious niece I will be disappointed as Hell so like!!!!!!!!)

Hey, you are simply the best and I adore you as the beautiful person you are! You're kind, intelligent, and just a fucking dope-ass writer and I'm so grateful to have met you through this game! Nate and Lup's cr means everything to me and I wish we could have had 400 more threads these last few weeks, but fuck, I love every single one we've ever done. They are just incredible. YOU are incredible.
Thanks so much for being so welcoming when I first joined the game and for being so excited to thread with me. That really helped boost my rp confidence when I first apped in and was so damn nervous of everything.

You weren't the only thing (I guess you are a thing now) to get me interested in Hadriel, but hearing about Nate's adventures definitely helped. Peering in on him like a creepy stalker continued to be fun even after I was in the game and it technically didn't count as lurking anymore, because gosh, what a fantastic arc you've had for him—organic and interesting and full of genuine character growth while being so completely Nate from start to finish.
And I had such a good time getting to do adventure couple things, too. Digging into their issues from UC4 and really having to talk and work things out—super chef kissing fingers. And the more lighthearted stuff, the mundane bits of life in a really, really weird place...it's been fantastic. Hopefully we'll still get to do stuff together in memes and such, but I had a wonderful time playing with you here, and I'll always think of it fondly. <3
