LOVE MEME | THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Hadriel 💕 Love 💕 Meme

Please allow us to say thank you for sticking with us for so long and throughout our endgame! This meme is for us all to gush over one another with our love, our farewells, and our favorite memories throughout the game.

Instructions are simple- simply top level with your name and the characters you play/played (and if you want to include a few of your favorite memories in the game, as well as a character epilogue to say what your character will be doing after the endgame, please do so!)

Go around and tag other folks, reminisce, and tell everyone how awesome they are! Players who have left the game at any time can also participate, so please come on back and let us tell you how much we enjoyed having you here!

FROM MANDA
Hey folks!

It feels weird to be saying goodbye to this game. Hadriel has been such a big part of my life for three and a half - wow, almost four? - years now, and I have to admit I'm not sure what I'm going to do without it. It's been a huge source of inspiration and creativity, an immense and sometimes difficult undertaking. There have been ups and downs, but above all, it's been so much fun.

While I had modded games before starting Hadriel, I'd never created one of my own. Building Hadriel from the ground up with Rae is something I'm always going to remember. Coming up with events every month, creating NPCs for people to love and hate, and forming an overarching plot for people to react to was a constant rollercoaster, stressful and exciting and satisfying. I really hope you all had as much fun as we did, because that's the truly rewarding part of running a game: seeing other people enjoy it.

More than anything, I want to say thank you for spending time with us. Whether it was a few months or a few years, I really deeply appreciate everyone who invested a little part of themselves, their time and energy and interest, in our game. I can't tell you how many times Rae or I posted a plot OOC post and sent frantic Discord messages back and forth because we were so delighted about how people were reacting to it. We tried our best to make a game that people could have fun in, and one that people could feel like they were affecting. I hope we succeeded, and even if we didn't, thank you for caring about our game.

I want to especially thank a few people. Kels, who continued making beautiful graphics for us even after she left the game. Alexis, who stepped in to help us with apps and NPCs when we desperately needed it. Grimme, who was kind enough to volunteer to mod the Hadriel Discord. Without them, Rae and I would have been totally overwhelmed. Not long after the game began, we agree that we weren't interested in turning it over to new mods, that when we couldn't mod anymore we would end it even if we hadn't completed the full three arcs we intended. Thanks to the help we got, we were able to go the distance, and I really, truly appreciate it.

All of our players are awesome and this game would be nothing without you. Thank you for making this big chunk of my life so fun, and I wish you luck and even more fun wherever the RP world, or life, takes you from here on. I'm going to miss Hadriel and all of you.

-Manda
FROM RAE
I can't follow up what Manda said, guys, I'm already tearing up just from reading it!!!

But please let me say from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Hadriel was my first major modding experience, and it was born out of Manda and I conspiring with one another late one night during one of our many discussions about rp in general. We weren't truly serious about it, but it was something fun to talk and DM one another about when I was at work- what would the setting be like? Who would the NPCs be? What kind of rules would we make? Eventually, after another session of excited, frantic brainstorming, I realized: oh god, we're actually going to do this.

I was really scared! I didn't think that I had it in me to bring a game to completion. Enter Manda, who was with me every step of the way. She has been the absolute rock of Hadriel, keeping everything together and encouraging me and reassuring me, even when I was going through some rough times and wasn't around much to push the game forward. I can confidently say that without Manda, the game wouldn't have survived past its second year and I owe so much to her.

And then there's all of you! This sounds weird to say, but I've never really written a story that other people have cared about before. The enthusiasm and excitement that so many of you showed while we were dropping major plot events, or the debates that you had over our moral dilemmas, or the way that all of you just consistently volunteered, showed up, and thought outside the box to bring the plot forward in ways that Manda and I hadn't anticipated... I can't even begin to explain how much that means to me. The players of Hadriel, past and present, have done so much and the game wouldn't exist without you guys! So thank you all- thank you so much for being here, and for playing in Hadriel!

We've come a long way from nervously counting the apps as they came in on October 1st, 2015, from DMing, 'do you think we have enough players?' to one another, from not being able to think of good names for our NPCs(so we just named them the obvious- neither of us are good at naming things at all, see: the Null, see: [Name], see: the game was almost called The Spires until we flipped through some angelic-sounding names in a name generator site). Both Manda and I have learned and grown so much from this game, and I hope that some of you feel the same!

You guys are so amazing and we love all of you. We wish you luck wherever you decide to go, and thank you again for bringing Hadriel to life!

Jaina | Elena Fisher, Aqua

Darlings of Hadriel! (First, can I say what a nice idea this is to have at endgame? Warm fuzzies everywhere.) It's hard to say goodbye, but it's also lovely to have the opportunity to do so as a group here at the end. Initially I never expected to join the game, but I kept hearing good things secondhand and getting a little more interested, and eventually I felt like Miss Elena Fisher needed a little more adventure than she was getting in the game I already had her in, so why not toss her into creepy caveville, am I right?

It's been so much fun—I missed the first arc of the game, but that actually made it kind of neat when I did arrive, because there was an extra sense of history and momentum in place. That's one thing I want to give a hats-off to mods and players alike about—through both events and player initiatives, I never felt like the game was static. Something was always in motion, for good or for (ICly) ill. And you all have been lovely. Some of it I expected, from knowing the player or the character ahead of time, and some took me by delighted surprise. I got really comfortable here, like wrapping myself up in an RP blanket I never wanted to take off, but as much as I'll miss the game, I'm happy it got to reach an ending and not just end, and I'm happy so many people got to play out satisfying arcs.

Elena Fisher ([personal profile] storyseeker) was my main lady here. I knew coming in that Alex was a fantastic Nate, and I had a lot of fun being the normal-married-couple-except-not-really. Other things took me by surprise—I didn't expect her to become close friends with/grief eat edibles with the Taaco twins or feel like a sort of big sister/friend to Laura or become buddies with Space Dudes or feel weirdly empathetic to a demon. And all the other stuff along the way. Her canon point was something of a crossroads between settling down into a normal life for real and embracing the dangerous but exciting life of adventure after all, and her time in Hadriel absolutely gave her several new perspectives on what she wanted her life to be.

Aqua ([personal profile] caeruleae) was around for a shorter time, but I still really enjoyed it. Taking her from ten years trapped in the darkness to another kind of freedom but another kind of prison was interesting to play out, particularly as it touched her sense of duty to all the worlds (vs. what she needed desperately to get back to). And she got to choose a successor and pass on the Keyblade! I fuckin' LOVED that.

Elena will be returning home with her husband to essentially become professional explorers and see the world with their family, which includes a baby girl who takes after them both. They expect interdimensional visitors as abilities allow. Aqua will return to her universe to fight thirteen copies of the douchebag who ganked her friend's body, but she too will get a happy ending eventually.

It's been wonderful, and I'm so glad that I spent the time here that I did. Please feel free to keep in touch with me at [plurk.com profile] effervescible, and always stay awesome, y'all.

Even know what to say about Alphys and Aqua I'm going to fucking explode for everything we've written. Seriously I'm love you so FUCKING MUCH and we need to be in a game together stat im gonna die without ur tags

DUDE I loved watching Nate and Taako's stuff before I joined, but when Elena and Lup hit it off I kind of thought the twins would be more of a his-and-hers divided up sort of thing CR wise, and I'm so so so glad that Taako and Elena found their way to have their own really rewarding friendship too. The bonding via grief edibles was really funny but also very poignant. Also I will never ever ever forget his sex dream invasion, it was glorious. And Aqua and Alphys are just...so wonderful, their time was short but I will love it forever.

ALSO WHY HAVEN'T WE HUNG OUT YET? YOU LIVE RIGHT THERE.

Jaina you are my BAE

Thank you for playing out Elena and Lup with me for two fucking years and making them the best fucking friends to ever exist. Lup will be visiting all of the fucking time, alright. I refuse to ever let this cr die. They are going to be best friends for the rest of their lives, the end.

You are incredible and such a fun writer and just a great person overall. Can't wait to meet you one day!! We gonna take over the fucking city.

MY SUPER DARLING I can't tell you how much I've loved getting to play these best friends with you for so long—I always figured they'd get on but I had no idea how well they'd click or how frequently I'd end up crying over girlfriends (which was basically every thread). You're wonderful and this game has been wonderful and it will be wonderful when we hang out, it's gotta happen.

Thank you for spending all this time with us in creepy caveville. I loved having Elena and Aqua around, and honestly, the game never felt static because we had SO many amazing players to keep things fresh and fun. So thank you for that as well, because you were always there plotting cool stuff (I love Aqua passing on her Keyblade, jfc) and jumping into things. Good luck with everything!

Thank YOU all for giving us such a good setting to do all the cool stuff, and congratulations on bringing the game to a successful conclusion <3
