Test Drive Meme # 1

Welcome to Hadriel's very first test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and Apps are open October 1st.

Two quick points here as well:
1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: ANYONE GOT A LIGHT?
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something on the rooftops watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to separate you from your group and tear you into pieces. In this instance, the door has managed to grab something truly horrific, and it's definitely out for blood (and brains) tonight.

Smokers are enemies in the video game series Left 4 Dead, who use their prehensile tongues to capture unwitting people and either drag them away for consumption or hang them up to strangle them. With all of the activity of characters trying to find out what's going on and where they are, there are more than a few of them, lingering in the shadows and waiting to try strike at anyone who may be lagging behind.]

SCENARIO TWO: YOUR HEART WILL GO ON
[You awaken in a windowless room, the walls strangely curved. The door, when you try it, is quite firmly locked. No amount of force is able to break through, so it seems to be sealed by supernatural means. Next to the door stands a slender pedestal, about as big around as a large man's thigh. At the top of the pedestal is a indentation, as if something were meant to go there.

But you're not alone in this room. There are two things with you: a person and a corpse. Pinned to the body is a note: Place a heart on the pedestal to leave. Tucked neatly into the corpse's pocket is a letter opener, small and not particularly sharp.

Did you have weapons or tools on you before? You don't now. But look at it this way: what better form of bonding is there than helping a friend or stranger dig a heart out of a corpse with nothing but a letter opener and your bare hands?]

H O P E

SCENARIO THREE: HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BREAK-IN TODAY?
[You're standing outside a storefront, colored glass set into intricate designs. It's beautiful, artistic, but more importantly - there's definitely food inside. Good food, too, by the glimpses you can see through the window. In fact - wait a minute - isn't that your favorite dish in there, just waiting for you? You've been searching for food for hours, it seems, and the city is bare. Your tummy is getting awful rumbly. What luck!

You try the door. Cruelly, it is locked. The food taunts you, just out of reach.

The glass is lovely, intricate, but it's just glass. Or maybe you know how to pick locks. Or maybe there's a back way in. Or maybe some passing friend will be able to help you. There's a lot of options here, if what you really want is a mouthful of the finest... whatever it is you like.]

[That had him giving her a curious look. Sounded a bit like Natasha, though she didn't have the same vibe the assassin did. Maybe it was a different kind of training...?]

Throwing knives, huh? Well, I'll keep an eye out for anything like that. No gun on me, sorry, but it's good to know you've got some weapon proficiency. You good with hand to hand combat?

[Might as well figure out just how much she knew so he could be aware of what sort of situation she could handle.]

[ she catches that look and winks back at him because she's Cashmere and considers a wink an appropriate response in nearly any situation. ]

I like to think so. With humans, anyway. Don't know about creepy crawlies and wasn't interested in finding out after I saw what they could do. [ who could really blame her? Cashmere has a strong sense of self-preservation and far less interest in doing good for others than Steve has. she might be kind of a jerk. ]

[personal profile] americanclassic 2015-09-27 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[That was... Cashmere. Don't do that. He flusters easily.

So moving past that...]

Then how about we leave the creepy crawlies to me, if we can manage it? And we'll keep looking for something you can use as a weapon.

[If she could handle herself and knew how to use some sort of weapon, he'd feel better with her having one -- just in case.]

[ careful, Steve. you'll encourage her. ]

Okay. [ is it wrong that she kind of wants to find another creepy crawly just to watch him use that shield again? not that she wants to be attacked, but you've got to appreciate his skill. ]

You lead and I'll follow.

americanclassic: (Oh? - 1)

[personal profile] americanclassic 2015-09-28 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nooooo.]

Right.

[No checking out his butt either, Cashmere. Gosh. He was a good Catholic boy.

But he led them carefully over towards the squat building, pausing at the corner of every one they passed to make sure nothing was coming at them from around one. Or above.]

[personal profile] 64th 2015-10-02 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ okay, fine. she will just be back here "not" checking out his butt, and if she happens to notice that it's a very nice butt that is totally "accidental."

Cashmere stays close, not keen on being farther than absolutely necessary should one of their new friends pop out. it's quiet, which is a little unsettling but maybe it just means they're alone. they reached the potential safe house without any hassle. she takes a spot against the wall to give Steve a chance to clear the door instead of following blindly into some sort of bullshit she'd regret. Cashmere nods at Steve. ready when he is. ]
americanclassic: (Cap - Full shot 1)

[Good thing Steve's narration isn't telling Steve what someone else's narration is sharing. Otherwise Steve might be blushing.

When they reach the building and she goes to the side to wait for him to clear it, he's grateful. Grateful that she has sense in her head and he might not have to babysit her completely. She was showing competence, taking on only what she could and not rushing in to try to prove herself. Tony could take a lesson or two from her.

At that nod, he grabs the door and pulls it open, behind it in case anything comes bolting out at the light.

So far... nothing. Shield up, he heads in, sliding over to the wall and letting his eyes adjust to the dark before he starts a quick perimeter check. It doesn't take long for him to stick his head back out.]

Clear. I'll need to do a room by room, but the entrance is safe.

[personal profile] 64th 2015-10-03 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ yeah, that was totally a close one. phew.

Cashmere sighs with relief when Steve reappears. even though she knows he can handle what comes his way (more than handle it if earlier is anything to go by), it's good to see him reappear all in one piece. ]

Can't imagine that'll take you long. If they've got any sense they'll run the other way when they see you. [ but enough of hanging out in the street, and she follows him inside. it looks like the building's been abandoned for a while. maybe an office, once upon a time. there's a light layer of dust covering the furniture. ]

I'll look through this stuff, see if there's anything useful.
americanclassic: (Side - Look 1)

[personal profile] americanclassic 2015-10-03 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
[He might have considered her a civilian if they'd been anywhere he was familiar with, but they were both dumped in here, in this... underground pit of mayhem, and that made her just as much a part of this as he was. He wouldn't go so far as to call her a soldier, yet, but she was taking this well. Making herself useful and seemingly capable of taking care of herself. Right now, that was perfect and he was thankful that this was who he had to deal with at the moment.]

Good plan. If you hear sounds of a struggle...? Don't come running.
64th: (let it all out put it in the book)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-10-03 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't have to tell me twice. [ she probably wouldn't apply the word soldier to herself either, but it's not the same in his world as it is her's. he's probably never heard of what she is, which is a victor. a guy like him? would do incredibly well in the arena and in the Capitol. not that it's anything she'd wish on somebody.

she starts with the closest cabinet, swinging the door open and taking everything out to look at it properly instead of rifling through and risking missing anything. ]
Before you go - do you need anything? [ she hold up a box of paperclips. she's a laugh a minute, Steve. ] Maybe these?
americanclassic: (Smile - Cheeky 2)

[personal profile] americanclassic 2015-10-03 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Whatever he'd expected from her, a sense of humor in the middle of all this hadn't been it. The question, such as it was, actually managed to surprise a short laugh out of him before he twitched his lips in a smile.]

I think I can handle any paper gathering emergencies without them, thanks. But keep looking.
64th: (It's afterhours; there's different rules)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-10-05 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ sometimes a sense of humor is all you can do to survive when everything gets messy. it tends to be a dark sense of humor, but it works. he gets a smile back in return. fingers crossed that she finds something better than paperclips because they're going to be literally worthless unless there's an office supply based economy. ] You've got it.

[ she's going to keep an eye on the direction he disappears to, just in case. in between digging around for anything useful, she doesn't want to be surprised by anything slipping past him or otherwise waltzing in the front door. what she ends up finding wouldn't have been her first choice, but she'll take it: a briefcase, scissors, a stack of semi-interesting looking papers that she wants to take a second look at, and keys. she's excited about the keys. hopefully they don't go to something stupid. ]
americanclassic: (Look - Side 1)

[personal profile] americanclassic 2015-10-05 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
[He'd been around army men for too long to think otherwise. Sometimes you had to laugh or make an off color comment when surrounded by death and body parts, or you might just crack.

He did a quick but thorough sweep of the floor, checking rooms and adjoining closets for bodies or anything that might try wrapping something deadly around him. So far, nothing. There was a window that needed boarding up and a room that looked to be storage of some sort, but for the most part, they were good.]

Clear. Might be more supplies in some of the desks or the storage room, but nothing's going to be bothering us in here.
