Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open September 24th, and apps are open October 1st.

Two quick points here as well:

1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: DON'T LOOK AT ME
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to hop right on you and chow down. This time, the Door has brought in several Boos, from the Mario video game series.

These monsters can be menacing, but are also incredibly shy. When looking directly at them, they will cover their faces and fade into the background- however, when turning away from them, they advance on you until they're in the perfect spot to take a nice big bite. The only way to defeat them is to escape this part of the level- that is, run madly away and try to keep up eye contact while you do so. They may look cartoonish, but those ghost teeth can be sharp!]

SCENARIO TWO: YOU'VE GOT RED ON YOU
[Hadriel is home to many things- temples, irate gods, angry citizens and... well, zombies, apparently. Beware as they start to walk/stagger/generally kind of shuffle around the streets of the city, since where there's one or two, there's usually a hundred more just waiting for the right moment to strike.

Zombies attack Hadriel by the dozen for this prompt, and nowhere in the city is technically safe from them! While they're not necessarily fast or intelligent, they have an advantage on you in that they have a lot more friends and they can't feel pain. So saddle up, bunker down, and try to survive the infestation!

This is a mini version of our Dead Men Walking event this month!]

SCENARIO THREE: CAPTURE THE FLAG
[Hey, what's Hadriel without a few mind-numbingly stupid games to forget the fact that you're in a murdercave that routinely tries to scare the crap out of you while also maybe killing you every once in awhile? You're not quite sure who came up with this particular mind-numbingly stupid game, but you seem to be playing, so get your running shoes on and grab that inhaler!

This is a game of Capture the Flag, and thanks to Rage, you're really starting to feel that competitive spirit. You're going to win- you have to. So what if you incur a few fouls along the way?

There's a red team and a blue team for this prompt, with both teams trying to protect their corresponding flags. Try to strategize to take the other team's precious flag, chase someone from the opposing team down, or just go all out and full body tackle that poor guy who got a little too close to your territory- it's all on you!]

Too late. We're using the buddy system and we're officially stuck together.

[this is your fate, jade. stuck hiding for god knows how many hours with this guy. at least there's pong on the phones???]

[She rolls her eyes in the most exaggerated fashion to cover up just how grateful she is to have him there and to know he won't just leave her if things get bad. But that doesn't mean she won't keep continuing to give him an out. The last thing she wants is for him to feel obligated to help her.]

Dude, I'm like ten years too old to need the buddy system. You don't have to take care of me.

No one stops needing the buddy system.

Even grandmas travel in packs.

Most teenagers travel in packs, but I don't.

[Jade vaguely knows that this is one of the stupidest arguments they could be having right now. Why is she trying so hard to push him away? If he tried to leave would she really be able to stop herself from begging him to stay? She doubts she'd be able to.]

[connor raises his hands in surrender. every time he tried to help teens this happened to him. is this just his lot in life]

Most teenagers also wouldn't be smart enough to find a good hideout like this, I know.

[fourthsaken]

[She counts that as a victory. Enough of a victory that she can pick at the fake cliff bar without feeling stupid for almost refusing food. She shrugs after a moment.]

It's not a big deal. I was scared. And... I'm better at hiding than running.

[iustitiae]

Sounds like a marketable skill to me.

[it's smart. running can be done without direction, but hiding required thought. and, well, he had obviously picked the same spot to hide in.]

[fourthsaken]

[She shrugs again, obviously confused. She'd never thought of being able to hide, of sometimes not even being noticed, was a good thing. How could she when Casey and the others at school were always running off to do something, while she got kidnapped.]

... Maybe. It's better than getting eaten by zombies. God, I can't believe that's the only other option...

[iustitiae]

I mean, there probably is a third option. Maybe even a fourth one, but...[he shrugs] I'm right here with you so it seems like a good one from where I'm sitting.

[fourthsaken]

... Why did you decide to hide? Were you scared?

[Jade wonders if it's too direct of a question, if he'll even be willing to answer it.]

[iustitiae]

Yeah.

[it's hard to admit, but he's an adult and he can do it. especially if it's for her.]

I like my brains where they are. And while I could outrun the zombies for awhile, I figured I'd get tired eventually.

[fourthsaken]

[At Connor's admission Jade relaxes just a little bit more. She shifts so she's no longer curled in on herself, but facing slightly toward him. It's almost unconscious, the way she's opening up, letting him in to see past her annoyed teenager facade. It's weirdly comforting to know that someone else is just as scared as she is.]

Blocking the doors was a good idea. I think we'll be safe here.

[iustitiae]

[he gets it. he may not do the annoyed teen thing, but he definitely has played the way better than you law student card several times.]

That's the hope. [he realizes he hasn't introduced himself to her, and this seems as good a time as any.] I'm Connor, by the way.

[fourthsaken]

Jade.

[She manages the smallest smile before her attention goes back to the barricaded door.]

... Do you think they're still out there?

[iustitiae]

Yeah, probably.

[i mean he's not going to lie to her]

[fourthsaken]

Shit.

[She's not angry at Connor for telling the truth. She's angry that somehow she's back in a dangerous and almost surreal situation. Why do things like this keep happening to her?]

Sorry. It's not you I just... Why the fuck is this happening?

[iustitiae]

To mess with us.

[he wishes he had a better answer, but he doesn't. he's just resigned himself to this]

They get a kick out of it, I guess.

[fourthsaken]

I fucking hate being messed with.

[Jade falls into an awkward silence, picking at the rubber siding of her converse. Sorry, Connor. She's not going to be the best company.]

[iustitiae]

Don't we all.

[he mutters it under his breath, not really letting the awkward silence fall in. he's tired of it, too, of this place, of annalise, of people being murdered, of the messed up places his life had gone before.]

It gets hard not to ask, "why me"? After awhile.

[fourthsaken]

[Jade raises an eyebrow, surprised by Connor's question. That's her line. She wasn't expecting him to feel the same way.]

... Yeah. Yeah, I feel like that too.

[iustitiae]

"Birds of a feather," right? Maybe they drag people like us here on purpose.

[fourthsaken]

"People like us"? Dude, no offense, but how do you know we're anything alike?

[iustitiae]

[connor shrugs. aside from the age difference, he's not so sure. but if she wants to believe that, that's a pretense he's willing to let her keep]

Okay, people who hide under tables? Is that a better category?

[fourthsaken]

[He surprises a laugh out of Jade. A laugh that she suppresses when it echoes in the mostly empty room. She's still smiling though when she looks over at Connor.]

I dunno about better, but it's more accurate.

Could be a whole city of people under tables, right now.

[he smiles a little, too. tries to. it's easier when he's managed to make her look happy - like he's done something right.]
