test drive meme #14
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open November 24th, and apps are open December 1st. Please remember that starting in December, there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: HOW SAUCY
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
Watch out as you explore the streets of Hadriel, because you're not alone, and there's always something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to destroy you for your vegetarian ways. This time, the Door has brought in a large group of Killer Tomatoes, from the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes movie.
While it is not immediately clear how these odd creatures can kill you, rest assured that you should be quaking in your boots. They can bite with their weird little tomato mouths, they can roll after you surprisingly fast, and they can even explode! Truly terrifying. But if you manage to defeat some of these agents of terror and chaos, you could make some mean salsa.]

SCENARIO TWO: VACATION IN THEDAS
[While you're exploring the city, perhaps you'll run into another creature that's slipped through a rift and is exploring along with you - or perhaps hunting would be a better term. Yes, Hadriel is teeming with demons straight from Thedas.
Perhaps you'll run into a desire demon, who will offer you your deepest wish - in exchange for your body and soul, of course. Perhaps you'll find a pride demon, who will play upon your strengths and weaknesses until you give in to them. Or maybe it'll be a despair demon, there to crush all your hopes and dreams.
Or maybe, if you're very lucky, you'll just find a nug.
This is a mini version of our Fadeout event this month!]
C O N F U S I O N
SCENARIO THREE: SWEDISH MANUFACTURING
[You're in luck! You know that thing you've always wanted? Doesn't matter what it is - a cool weapon, a nice dress, a well-made bedstand, a rare magical invention. Whatever it is, you just managed to find it! Whoa!
Or, well, you managed to find a box with a picture of the item on it. When you open the box, you find all the necessary components for making that item, along with illustrated instructions for putting it together. There's no written instructions, just pictures, but you're smart, you can figure it out! And it'll look just like the photo on the box. You're sure of it.
Better get building! Okay, the instructions don't entirely make sense - did you screw that part in upside down? Wait, are these pages out of order? Maybe you can ask that person nearby for help, or maybe you'll just sink into the depths of confusion and despair. But keep trying! Just think of what you'll get if you succeed!]

Liv Moore | iZombie | will match format
[This can't be real. There's no cure for the zombie virus, and there's definitely no way this monster can make her human again.
But damn if Liv isn't thinking about taking its offer anyway.]
I don't know. My body isn't exactly in the best condition to trade right now, and my soul is the only part of me that's still me, so I feel like this deal is going to end up screwing you over more than it does me.
[It's cool, stranger walking by who notices this exchange. Liv's got this. She's haggling. She's totally got this.
No she doesn't, please help her.]vacation in thedas, take 2: despair - cw suicidal ideation
[And she'd thought post-traumatic ennui was bad. This is total despair, with the added bonus of being six to the ???th power under. Undead and buried. Useless. Helpless. Her real fate as a zombie is looming on the edges of her awareness because she can't run away from it anymore. There's no morgue in this city and nobody ever stays dead, so really, it's only a matter of time.
She should save everyone the trouble and just end it now. Hell, maybe Hope will bring her back as a mortal. Yeah, right. Given she's already part dead, any attempts at revival will just end up killing her more.)
She's fucked, but it's better this way.]
It's been nice knowing you, weird underground cave city. And you, freaky demon thing that actually talks sense. [As you pass by her, Liv looks at you.] And you too, stranger I just met. May your life be better than mine ever was.
confusion
[This was supposed to be a bookshelf. It looks like an adirondack style chair.
Liv curses under her breath as she turns the directions upside-down.] I knew I should've screwed the side on. What was I thinking, hammering a nail into it? [She sighs heavily.] Where's a carpenter brain when you need one.
confusion'
[dont listen to her]
no subject
[Liv squints at the directions. Nope, that doesn't sound right, but maybe if this woman points it out to her, she will.]
Where do you see that? [She holds out the directions. Teamwork, don't fail them now.]
no subject
[april points at the piece in question, which is CLEARLY on correctly. in fact it seems to be the only one on correctly]
The chair legs are attached to it wrong.
[those are shelves...not legs...but sure]
no subject
[This lady isn't helping at all.]
This isn't even a table. Are you high?
Take 2
Even stranger, he sees a girl wandering around, too. Cool, maybe they can group their efforts and find a way out. As he walks toward her, though, something seems off. And it doesn't help that she's talking to... Whatever that is with her. Very strange day. But then she looks at him directly, and says it was 'nice knowing him.' At least, he thinks that was directed toward him.
"What are you talking about?" He raises a confused eyebrow at her. Is she planning to commit suicide or something? He can't help looking at the demon from time to time, either. It kind of gives him the heebie-jeebies. Maybe they have a suicide pact, and he should get her away from it.
no subject
"I'm... I'm going to make things better."
She doesn't look or sound convinced, though.
no subject
no subject
Wait a second. She runs the words over in her head, and suddenly they seem like a terrible idea. Really? This is the solution you come up with? Only it wasn't her idea, was it?
She glances back at the demon.
"By walking away from you."
And that's exactly what she does, motioning for the boy who inadvertently saved her life to follow her.
no subject
He follows her lead without hesitation, not really sure what she wants. Maybe to give a proper thank you, or ask for something else. Oh, well, he won't know until she says so. But he's definitely a little curious.
"So, uh.... What was that about back there?"
no subject
It must still be there, biding its time. Great.
Well, crisis averted. Time to not freak this kid out.
"That demon dredged up some old issues I'd moved past." She shrugs. "Thanks for helping me out. It could've gotten ugly. I'm not in the mood to be possessed."
Apologies, got slowed down by holidays.
Where he's from, nobody listens to him and everything ends in a fight. Go figure. Must be just him.
"No sweat. You looked like you were pretty down. Didn't want you to do anything you'd regret."
He looks Liv over.
"Uh, are you okay, now?" You know, just to be sure.
no worries~
But it doesn't matter now. It's over. They're both safe and getting away from the demon and its evil designs. Liv thinks, fleetingly, that she should induce full-on zombie mode and try to kill it, but the hit her cognitive abilities take when those instincts overtake her will likely just result in her death. She can help more by doing what the boy did for her just now.
"Yeah, I'm fine now. That was-- I'm dealing with it." And now she's hungry. Crap. Time to go talk to Hope. "I have to get going. I'll see you around? I'm Liv, by the way."
(no subject)
2 - heya
She's going to hurt the gods. Badly. They're going to suffer for this.
In the meantime, Maketh is fully prepared to take out some of that suffering on the demons. The bystanders can just deal with it.
She doesn't call out a warning to the woman. She just fires a shot straight at the demon's head and reloads.]
hello my daarin
So, she puts more distance between herself and the demon, backing away from it even after she trips and falls on her backside. Dusty jeans are better than a bullet to the brain.]
no subject
Maketh lowers her rifle.]
Don't talk to them. They lie.
no subject
Yeah. [Despite Maketh's collected demeanor -- or maybe because of it -- Liv is still breathing heavily and gathering her wits.] I guess so. It did make a lot of sense, though.
[Almost too much sense.]

[If it were, then... well, everything since the boat party could've been avoided. She'd still be talking to Evan and their mom. She and Drake--
She and Drake would never have met, because she'd still be with Major. Would that be better lr worse? Both possibilities twist up her gut. No use thinking about it now, with the woman who saved her life. But later, maybe with a glass of wine, it's pity party central.]
Thanks. You're a good shot.

of course, back home, there aren't usually demons running around, trying to seduce people. that's a bit of a problem. a pickle, really. but they do, at least, seem to take damage, be bound, by her cages, so she's been able to escape anything that comes too close.
(she's in more than a bit of a pickle if anyone who recognises those cages is here, but the instinct to continue living is, ironically, stronger in the undead body than it ever was in her human one. half the time she doesn't even get time to consider it-
just cage them and run.)
but in this case, it's the girl, rather than the demon, that catches her attention, her words hitting Eva's ears with-
that's an awfully slow heartbeat. one that should be impossible.
there couldn't be a necromancer here, could there? )
Is everything alright? ( she seems friendly enough on the approach, voice quiet and easy, lilted politely like one might expect from a child of good standing, but Eva's already focusing her magic down into her fingertips, ready to cage this thing.
even being near it sets her instincts on edge, makes her shoulders spark with electric tension. )
no subject
There is no cure yet. This demon isn't even from her world. There's no way it can give her what she wants.]
Yeah. [She frowns, nods, and then looks at the girl.] Perfect.
[Liv glances back at the demon, and before it can reach for her or this other girl, she walks away, looking pointedly at the girl as she comes up next to her.] Time to go somewhere else.
[Never mind the demon is halfway to clawing at Liv's back.
Help.]
no subject
but not the rest of her. the sharp awareness of danger behind them doesn't leave, and when the thing's claw gets all too close to Liv - and, by extension, to Eva - the young woman whirls around too fast to see, slamming her hand to the ground and letting sparking, crackling blue netting rise over the thing, catching it and holding it still. )
Maybe we should run.
( you should definitely run. even if her words are light, there's a definite note of panic to her voice. that cage may be hurting it, holding it back, but it's not designed to catch demons. it won't hold. )
no subject
But this is magic. Real magic, not the dumb tricks she picked up from magician brain.
Magic and a demon, and a woman who's posing the only viable option as if it were a suggestion.]
You think?!
[Liv takes a glance back at the demon. Yeah, that thing is mad. It's coming after them soon. She shoves the woman's shoulder, to get her moving, and then breaks into a run herself.
And it is a real shame that soldier brain was so long ago. She could so use his running skills right now.]
