[He indicates the mistletoe with a wink.]

[Easy to tease? Yep, you have no idea just how easy. Kain raises an eyebrow, unsure how to take that... it's... a compliment, right? He's a little uncertain. But he eventually glances upward toward that mistletoe.]

Oh. I... I didn't realize...

Oh, you hadn't?

[He says it a little coyly, stepping closer into the man's personal space.]

Are you familiar with the tradition? Where one sees another under the mistletoe and thus should kiss them?

[He has no intention of kissing, but he'll say just about anything if it means getting a flustered reaction out of this gentleman.]

[Kain reddens, suddenly at a loss for what to do. He's awkward about doing this with someone he knows, let alone someone he hasn't yet met. Why can't everything in life be as easy to understand as a battlefield? He nods slowly.]

[He always found some excuse not to be around when the mistletoe came out, not wanting to watch his friends kissing.]

[Internally, Yukari is chuckling. Externally, he's keeping that cool demeanour and smile.]

So, you must be aware of the implications that will bring bad luck if you don't fulfill mistletoe's request?

[Sure, bad luck. Yukari doesn't believe in bad luck, especially not brought about by some non-sentient plant.]

What are you talking about? What do you mean it brings bad luck? I've not heard of that belief.

[Still, he's in another world now, and has to take that into consideration... Who knows, really?]

Well, if one should refuse to kiss under the mistletoe, it can bring calamity, to either or both of them.

[He presses a finger to his chin in thought.]

I mean, it can be small, like stubbing your toe on the table, or it can be massive, such as never being able to see the one they care for most again. Mistletoe can be very unforgiving in the luck department.

[He puts his hand over his mouth, feigning surprise.]

I can't believe you didn't know something like that. It's crucial to this world's system. That's why it appears in strange places here.

[He's guessing at most of this, but that last line is a total lie. He's hoping to buy this guy hook, line, and sinker.]

[Some part of Kain does want to be skeptical. He folds his arms, glancing upward yet again at the mistletoe. It could just be a very clever trick and nothing more. It could... but it could also be a real danger in this world. Kain has done the other-world travel enough to know it's important not to dismiss anything like this. He also comes from a world where magic is very commonplace, and nothing is worse than a status-effect spell.]

You're sure about that? Hmmph, I hardly need more bad luck...

[He's had enough for a lifetime, really.]

I mean, you could always look it up, if you don't believe me. I'll even show you the book I found it in. But...

[He points up at the mistletoe]

I- well- I don't want to end up with some sort of retaliation for breaking this world's rules...

[If this place weren't so unpredictable, he would never believe such a thing, but he's seen a few things... he thinks he knows better. Sigh. Of all the things... Kain hesitates, reddening. He's not exactly good at dealing with this sort of thing.]

Oh, absolutely.

[Yukari chuckles lightly as he dances a few steps back and bows.]

But, this will have to end here, Sir Knight. I have no intention of kissing under such a mischievous plant. Good luck finding someone to kiss you to ward off that bad luck.

[Said just to taunt him further. Yukari might not want to be kissed, but watching someone else scramble in desperation could very well be enjoyable.]

I... but, are you sure? What about this bad luck you spoke about? Won't it befall you too?

[At the moment, he's actually not too sure what to think... but he doesn't want bad luck himself, nor to be the cause of it for someone else.]

Well, you see, in order to be afraid of bad luck, you have to have something to lose, don't you? The very worst that could befall me at this point is physical injury. And I'm hardly concerned about saving my own life and limb, much less kissing a complete stranger to do it.

[And, actually, all of that is true. He doesn't have anyone he cares for, and he can endure physical injury extremely well. And, in the off chance he's killed, well, at least it was fun.]

Perhaps you have nothing left to lose, but I have things... I wouldn't want to deal with any sort of bad luck that would befall me...

[Yukari gives a light, airy chuckle.]

[He doesn't care for your concerns, Kain. Not one little bit. Although, he might pretend to care a little bit longer if you do tell him what you have to lose.]

So, tell me then, what will you do about it?

[He stands perfectly upright, as if daring the man to kiss him. Although, he's fairly certain Kain doesn't have the spine to force a kiss on someone.]

[Kain has a spine.... for battle. For charging at an enemy lance in hand and fighting them with all his might. He has no courage whatsoever when it comes to kissing or any similar physical contact. He's always far too uncertain, after his experiences. He frowns, eyeing the other man closely.]

It just... requires a kiss, then? And all bad luck is dispelled after that?

That would seem to be the case, yes.

[Yukari tilts his head slightly, watching Kain back.]

Although, it would have to be under this specific one. You can't kiss under another mistletoe and have the bad luck from this mistletoe dispelled.

[Kain glances over and grumbles in a lower voice.]

[He's a little preemptive, just in case this man gets a little bold in the name of a little good luck. He might have to back down from his dare.]

[Kain straightens up, acting all stiffly about the whole matter. He clears his throat. Yeah, no, he has no idea what he's doing. But what's the harm? If it'll help matters, it has to be done.]

If we must kiss to prevent this bad luck from befalling us... then so be it. If you're not against it.

[Yukari's eyebrows actually go up, both in amusement and disbelief. He was expecting many things. But being asked permission wasn't exactly one of them. Yukari's eyebrows go back down and he chuckles.]

You know, it is dangerous to buy so easily into whatever you're told. Someone could really take advantage of you.

[It's definitely not something Kain wanted to hear, given his past and the ways he's already been manipulated. He doesn't need to go through anything like that again.]

I got you to believe that you would have to kiss me, and all I said was it causes bad luck if you don't. If I had deeper ulteriour motives than just pulling your leg, I could have done many things to you. You probably would have even slept with me if I worked my way up to it.

And I didn't have to try very hard at all for you to accept what I was saying, did I? Even though you were visibly uncomfortable, you didn't attempt to deflect any of my lies. You are very gullible, and I must say it's quite obvious. I'm sure plenty of people have already taken advantage of you, haven't they?
