• Adam has never been able to afford a computer, so he's always either borrowed one or used a free library computer. What this means is that, despite being an 18 year old boy, Adam has never viewed internet porn.
• He's reasonably coordinated and in decent shape, but he doesn't do sports. No time, not enough energy.
• Relatedly, Adam does not actually have hobbies - not for fun, anyway. His time at home was always taken up with work or school or other necessary things, so the only thing approaching a hobby he has is hanging out with his friends and helping Gansey's Glendower search.
• Before the whole 'taken from home and stuck in a jamjar' thing, Adam had never left the state of Virginia - he'd barely even left his hometown.
• Adam has never had a pet of his own, but he likes dogs.
• He can fall asleep basically anywhere if he tries or is really tired. He can also wake up in a second if he feels threatened.
• He's got a Southern-type accent - the author linked these videos as examples - but he covers it up 95% of the time and sounds like a rich kid instead. It slips out when he's upset or tired. He absolutely hates it. (If it ever slips in a tag, I'll make note of it, otherwise assume he sounds like any rich upperclass Virginian.)
• He has basic skills at cooking, cleaning, and minor household repairs. He's pretty self-sufficient.
• He is the car whisperer and can fix just about anything. Too bad there are no cars in Hadriel!
• He probably has the shakiest moral compass of all his friends, but he really admires good people like Gansey. He just knows he isn't one of them.
• Ronan is absolutely the asshole who will punch you in the face and walk away. Adam is the one who will find some more subtle way to utterly destroy your life. (Gansey is the one who will be horrified by it.)

If Adam does wind up going away to college, what college/s do you think he'd go to and what do you think his college life would be like?

I think he'd really want to go to an Ivy, and I think he could almost certainly manage it, especially if he mentioned the abuse angle in his essay. Which he REALLY wouldn't want to do, so it would be a war between 'I don't want to ever talk about this again and I definitely don't want to use it to get ahead in life' and 'but it COULD get me ahead in life'. Either way, though, he'd manage an acceptance and probably a full ride, because he's smart and comes from very shitty circumstances.

He'd probably have to do work study or get a job to cover incidental/living expenses that scholarships and grants didn't cover, but after three-jobs-and-full-time-school it wouldn't be that tiring or difficult, comparatively. He would do well, because he'd need to do well. Adam wouldn't fuck up an opportunity like that.

And even an Ivy League college is going to be a different sort of vibe than Aglionby - plenty of rich, entitled kids, sure, but there'd be others there who were more middle class or even lower class like him, and anyway he'd be hundreds of miles away from Henrietta. I don't think he would lie about his past or where he's from, but he would definitely avoid telling the truth - ie, if someone asked where he was from, saying something like 'I graduated from Aglionby Academy' instead of 'I'm from Henrietta'. And it'd be simultaneously a little bit bitter and a lot nice to be able to leave a lot of that behind him, to see people every day who haven't seen him come to school with bruises.

I don't really know what he'd study - I know a lot of fandom is really into Adam-the-lawyer, but I don't know that he'd actually enjoy that. I do think he might THINK it's the direction he should go, considering his ambition, but I hold out hope that part of TRK will involve Adam coming to terms with his ambivalence about being rich and successful, and realizing that he should try to find something he genuinely enjoys rather than something that will make him rich.

If he hasn't somehow lost his Cabeswater connection by then, weekends would probably involve trips to nearby ley lines and other assorted magicky things, which he would treat as a necessary duty and but also sort of enjoy. He'd make friends, in his own Adam way, but can you ever have friendships as intense as those that involve ley lines and adventures and death? I can't see the others ever not being deeply important to him, even if they don't see each other often.

lbr, Gansey's gonna die. If he doesn't come back somehow, Adam will def visit his grave regularly and always think of him as the best friend he's ever had, regardless of what other friends he might make. He wouldn't be fond of going back to Henrietta, he'd much prefer people to visit him where he is, but he wouldn't 100 percent never do it ever, if Blue couldn't come to visit him at school. And lbr about this too - Adam loves the Barns, he looks at that place and wishes he could've had it as his home. He'd visit Ronan. It's closer to Henrietta than he'd like, but it's also close to Cabeswater, and it's sort of its own little world.

He'd live in the dorms because his scholarship would pay for it and get excellent grades and have a roommate who is totally fucking shocked when it turns out quiet, studious, hardworking, Dean's List Adam Parrish's boyfriend from back home is this buzzcut, tattooed asshole who has a goddamn raven for a pet.
