  • ARYA STARK

    [personal profile] whichend 2016-02-13 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
some facts and headcannons about Arya:

-Back when she was getting a lady's education, her favorite subject was math.

-As a really small kid, she was fascinated by swords and all that, but what really held her attention were positions of power: things like being a major knight or a High Septon. She wanted the freedom that those kinds of positions provided her. What she really wanted was to travel on her own accord, to be her own person and do whatever and as many things as she felt like. Swordplay happened to be one of those many things.

-She has really, really terrible handwriting.

-If she doesn't like you, Arya will go out of her way to piss you off, usually with snark or pranks. (If she really, really doesn't like you, you're on her kill list, but that's a whole separate issue.)

-Her revenge quest is less about revenge and more about finding some sense of control amid all the terrible things that basically happened to her at once. Again, it goes back to that idea of power -- she's trying really hard to maintain a grip on her own life, but she truly doesn't understand the terrible actions of those around her, and her kill list is a misguided attempt to make sense of all that and even properly grieve.

-Despite her threats, big talk and stabbing, she really, really hates killing people and has a pretty strong moral compass.

    -Her favorite color is grayish-blue.

-Her two favorite people in the world were Jon, her brother, and Syrio, her fighting instructor. She wasn't super close to her parents, but most people in her station weren't, so she never really considered it unusual. She did hardcore resent the attention her sister got from them, though.

-She's now really embarrassed about that.

-If Arya were to play any instrument in a rock band, she'd play the drums. She has an overall excellent sense of rhythm.

-I've got a lot of headcannons about family stuff and psyche stuff, so if you're interested in those let me know and I can pull out some more for you!

Facts that are actually facts because hahaha OC:
→ Due to her cybernetic parts, she weighs over 300lbs.

→ Sleeps on the floor. She can sleep in beds, but they're not very comfortable for her, and if she does then she tends to sit upright with her back to the wall or something. Also she snores.

→ Having spent nearly a century without a sense of taste, and having that sense restored, she is a voracious eater. It's a gross sight to watch. So the sodas that she got from Hope? Yeah, she totally drank those without complaint, because what is soda even supposed to taste like this is totally normal whateverrr.

→ Also spent nearly a century as a soldier with different memories of different women, most who were unaware of being an organic-synthetic being. She does plays up the ignorant "I am a robot and I don't understand things" when she actually does understand things, because of those memories.

→ Has a messed up sense of humor, and her laugh is kind of weird, low, and creepy.

→ That said, she has a much more womanly voice than you'd expect from her. I may or may not "voice PB" Jena Malone for her. She sounds like that.

→ If she thinks you're not very good at defending yourself, she will totally go into Knight In Shining Armor Mode and be super overprotective like a hawk. If she thinks you're capable, she won't think twice about letting you slip into danger because she has faith that you'll survive so it's okay. :) Rey's faith is pretty dangerous. Seriously, she kicked her brother off a cliff because she was sure he would survive the fall. And he did! He did...

→ Yes she does have a brother. Well, "brother", since they share the same genetic donors. But she sees him as her brother so there you go. He was pretty much the healthiest thing in her life prior to her arrival in the game.

→ ...Okay I've tl;dr'd about this enough so hit me up with questions and I'll answer them!

I've got some basic canon info bullet points here, but here's for some sillier things!
► Ronan has broken his fair share bones over the course of his childhood and notably has had several instances of boxer's fracture. I wonder why.
► He's an 'animals-over-people' type person and definitely used to have a folder on his laptop with a bunch of baby animal pictures in it.
► Chainsaw (his raven) is a representation of his 'truth', and while she's her own separate creature, she's also created from the vulnerable parts of him and serves as a tethering force to keep him true to himself.
► He loves shitty internet memes.
► He prefers to think of himself as a force of nature rather than a human being. Dehumanizing himself makes him happy because it removes his responsibility over his surroundings.
► On that note, he's 100% aware that he's an asshole and that it's difficult to be friends with him and on some level he appreciates his friends for putting up with his bullshit. He just doesn't really care enough to try to be nicer.
► He plays tennis and presumably owns tennis whites somewhere.
► Some of his farm cows were Highland cattle because THEY'RE FLUFFY and objectively the cutest cows in existence.
► He loves working on farms okay he's a farmboy at heart.
► He likes spicy food because he thinks it's badass. He's that loser who eats like 20 chili peppers on a dare.
► Jury is still out on whether or not his tattoo is sort of magical and shifts around a little or just a normal tattoo. I like to headcanon it as more of a scattered/sharper pattern like this, but with the coverage of this (which is actually an amazing fanart of him).
► If he were a dog, he'd be a doberman, if he were a cat he'd be an egyptian mau.
► In their friend group though, Ronan is the dog, Adam is the cat, Noah is the ferret, and Gansey is the exasperated owner. Their CR all makes instantly more sense when you think of it this way.
► He was fourteen in 2010. You know what that means.

    [personal profile] hybridification 2016-02-13 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
► Rhys' favorite color is bright, gaudy yellow, for obvious reasons.
► He's pretty used to working basically 24/7, I headcanon typically 60 hours a week, though sometimes he worked extra. The fact that he doesn't have a designated job (and hasn't since he left Hyperion) feels weird tbh.
► Before his fancy new haircut, he definitely had a mullet.
► He will absolutely screw someone over to get ahead... but he'll feel a little bad about it.
► FUN FACT: his housemate is Gren and together they have a total of two arms and two eyes.
► He's actually remarkably pretty okay under pressure once he knows that he has to deal with something on his own. Up until that point though, he's a shaking and crying mess and oh god please help him.
► Rhys is absolutely a 'out-loud peptalk in the mirror' kind of guy.
    ► He hates cats.
Handsome Jack's A.I. was made during the first half of BL2, after the events of BL1 and after he tried to kill the BL2 vault hunters but obviously before the Control Core mission.
► 100% headcanon, but Rhys is from a poorer family on one of the Eden planets. He left them behind when he went to work for Hyperion and doesn't really think about them anymore.
    ► He's left handed
► He's awful at shooting in general. He's used Hyperion guns before (at company ranges or something) and the only reason he can hit anything is thanks to the accuracy stabilizers. Without those, he's kind of SOL.

    adam parrish | trc

    • Adam has never been able to afford a computer, so he's always either borrowed one or used a free library computer. What this means is that, despite being an 18 year old boy, Adam has never viewed internet porn.
    • He's reasonably coordinated and in decent shape, but he doesn't do sports. No time, not enough energy.
    • Relatedly, Adam does not actually have hobbies - not for fun, anyway. His time at home was always taken up with work or school or other necessary things, so the only thing approaching a hobby he has is hanging out with his friends and helping Gansey's Glendower search.
    • Before the whole 'taken from home and stuck in a jamjar' thing, Adam had never left the state of Virginia - he'd barely even left his hometown.
    • Adam has never had a pet of his own, but he likes dogs.
    • He can fall asleep basically anywhere if he tries or is really tired. He can also wake up in a second if he feels threatened.
    • He's got a Southern-type accent - the author linked these videos as examples - but he covers it up 95% of the time and sounds like a rich kid instead. It slips out when he's upset or tired. He absolutely hates it. (If it ever slips in a tag, I'll make note of it, otherwise assume he sounds like any rich upperclass Virginian.)
    • He has basic skills at cooking, cleaning, and minor household repairs. He's pretty self-sufficient.
    • He is the car whisperer and can fix just about anything. Too bad there are no cars in Hadriel!
    • He probably has the shakiest moral compass of all his friends, but he really admires good people like Gansey. He just knows he isn't one of them.
    • Ronan is absolutely the asshole who will punch you in the face and walk away. Adam is the one who will find some more subtle way to utterly destroy your life. (Gansey is the one who will be horrified by it.)

    • Cliff is a brand and shiny new 16 that can't drive because the Driver's Ed class was full at school and he's humanly incapable of asking someone to teach him.
    • He's 5'9" and he's pretty much never going to get taller than that, which is weird because his wolf is freaking huge.
    • He's an Animal Person, not a werewolf, which means he has a human and wolf body at the same time and can choose to switch between them at will.
    • His name is Clifford and he turns into a Big Red Dog. Yeah, I know.
    • He's also AFRAID OF DOGS, I am not making this up, this is real.
    • He has a tongue stud that stays when he turns into a wolf so he's a wolf with a tongue stud basically.
    • He really, really doesn't like to be touched. Like, at all.
    • He has a younger adopted brother named Kevin that he actually gets along pretty well with, considering it's Cliff.
    • He has a crush on a girl at school and honestly the less said about that the better it's not going well.
    • The hoodie he wears everywhere isn't actually his, he borrowed it from Oscar and never gave it back.
    • The only card game he knows how to play is Go Fish and he mostly plays with ghosts. Well, one ghost.
    • He'll fight anybody.
    • He's also incapable of actually admitting that he's friends with anyone, but if he actively chooses to spend time with someone it's as good a sign as any really. Even if he bitches the entire time.
    • He really loves BBQ, he'll eat it any chance he gets.
    • He's terrified of being seen as a Monster because of his wolf, which is the biggest reason he's rude and unfriendly with people to begin with.
    • He's terrible about older male influences, and far more likely to listen or chill out for older female influences.
    • He'll talk loud and act like he doesn't give a shit about anything, but when it comes down to it he'll protect people if he can, even if "turning into a wolf at it" only works like 50% of the time in any given situation.

    • Thom's 17 and a Junior in high school and never been kissed.
    • He's never owned a cell phone because honestly his family can't afford it.
    • He currently doesn't have a driver's license because it was taken away from him for his seizures. This is the second time his driver's license has been taken away because of the seizures.
    • His memories of his mom are incredibly vague. This is partly because after she left his dad more or less forbid any talk of her, and partly because she was having invisibility problems even before she left so he literally didn't SEE his mom a whole lot.
    • He has the ability to heal people with a touch, and his mom had the power of invisibility. His dad on the other hand is actually pretty outspoken against powered heroes so Thom is understandably keeping a few things from him.
    • Like the fact that he's gay too.
    • During the summer Thom works two jobs and volunteers at the local community center on top of the super hero gig he's hiding from his dad. The money is to help his dad with the mortgage and other expenses. The volunteering is because he kind of lives in a neighborhood that's veering into the wrong side of the tracks and he's trying to help however he can.
    • He caused a blackout at a hospital and sent everyone nearby into seizures after he healed an entire burn ward and his powers shorted out as a result.
    • He recites super hero names when he's trying to fight off a seizure.
    • He's pretty bad at noticing when other people are having problems unless they're clearly bleeding or they actually tell him.
    • He spends a lot of time in his own head and usually winds up being let down by reality as a result.
    • A bit of positive encouragement honestly goes a long way with him.

    Julia Wicker - The Magicians

    [personal profile] hedgings 2016-02-13 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
▬ She's really intelligent. Went to a school for gifted children and everything.
    ▬ She plays the oboe
▬ She used to want to get into political science somehow and move up in the world as someone shaping it. She's always had a mind for how the world works and how she can affect it ( headcanon )
▬ It's not really clear whether everyone is born able to do magic, but some only have the aptitude for it or if only a handful of people in the world can actually do magic in canon. The implication is that anyone technically can do it, but most don't have the aptitude for it.
▬ Julia was rejected from the Harry Potter equivalent from college, Brakebills.
▬ Julia is a classic overachiever and when she didn't get into Brakebills she cracked big time. See this picture.
▬ She's a level 250 hedge witch, hedge witch meaning she learned magic outside of a sanctioned school like Brakebills and level 250 being the highest level
▬ She knows French. And pieces of a bunch of languages for spells, but she can speak French fluently and does so with an accurate French accent from having lived in France for a few years. Her accent doesn't show when speaking English.
▬ She doesn't remember what love is or how to feel it. Not that she can't, she just broke herself too badly and has issues relating to people because of it now.
▬ She really needs people deep down, something she realized just before everyone she started to realize she loved was murdered in front of her
▬ She canonically has dysthymia, a type of depression
▬ Her worst magic is battle magic
▬ Sometimes she forgets to eat meal
▬ She has to be addicted to something. School, smoking, working, support groups, magic. She has an addictive personality and where one fails, something else will replace it

I have a lot of headcanons for her after this canon point, too, but these are mostly facts with some extra padding from me.

    • He still hasn't really bothered learning how to use his phone, not beyond the most basic messaging functions. This is probably for the best, as it's saving the world from 5000 selfies a day.
    • If Dorian lived in modern-day Earth he would 100 percent be a giant disgusting hipster.

    • He has a giant dog named Noishe that isn't actually a dog at all but a several thousand year old mythical creature. Lloyd still calls Noishe a dog though.
    • He fights with two swords because he honestly thought twice the weapons meant twice the fighting power. Lloyd and math aren't terribly well acquainted, to be honest.

    • He once had a wanted poster out for him that was frankly gorgeous.
    • The reason he became friends with Colette and Genis as children was because he saw them sitting alone all the time and.... didn't want them to be alone anymore, basically.

    • Gren is somewhere around 1500-1800 years old. Even he doesn't know exactly how old he is, because he didn't really start keeping track until he ended up in human society. But he's old-- old as balls.

    • He has an excellent singing voice. His voice actor, Andrew Chaikin, is also the singer Kid Beyond. Dude's got a smooth set of pipes on him.

    • Technically, it's only implied in TWAU (and Beowulf) that Gren has extremely sensitive hearing, and that's why he drinks so much. Normal sound volumes are kind of like jamming a knitting needle into his ear, which explains a lot of his shitty behavior.

    • Related to this, Gren absolutely hates New Year's Eve because he's in New York and mother of god just end him. Just end him.

    • Being the weird-ass swamp fish gorilla that he is, Gren is an excellent swimmer both in and out of glamour and can hold his breath for like, ever. Sometimes, if shit just starts getting a little too much, he'll go sit at the bottom of whatever body of water is nearest-- even if that's just a bathtub. He can even sleep down there, except for the bathtub thing because he 0% wants Rhys to walk in on that and think he's drowned or something.

    • When he's really out of it, he starts speaking in Old English. Like, early Old English. He's pretty much incomprehensible.

    • Gren has the tendency to put the needs of the people he cares about waaaay above his own. This is deeply unhealthy and he doesn't give a fuck.

    • Really, for all of his tough guy bullshit, he cares about people and justice, beliefs that he's developed over hundreds of years of living with humans, and he gets horrified by Fables doing shit that he used to do a millennium ago. Like, they're supposed to be better than that, they're not supposed to be monsters anymore.

    ichaer: DO NOT TAKE. (83.)

    ciri | the witcher

    [personal profile] ichaer 2016-02-13 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
    — Her birth mother was a Princess of Cintra and her father is Emperor of Nilfgaard. Through them (and her father's conquering of other lands) she has a number of titles: Queen of Cintra, Princess of Brugge and Duchess of Sodden. Heiress to Inis Ard Skellig and Inis An Skellig, and suzeraine of Attre and Abb Yarra. She honestly doesn't care much for all of it.

    — Ciri is known as an Unexpected Child and is bound to Geralt through Destiny. She came into Geralt's care through what is known as the Law of Surprise which is an old custom that a man saved by another is expected to offer to his savior a boon whose nature is unknown to one or both parties. Upon lifting her birth father's curse, Geralt asked for, "That which you already have but do not know." already knowing that her birth mother was pregnant.

    — Usually when the Unexpected Child turns out to be a girl, a witcher will trade her for a boy with the Dryads and thus the girl would be raised as one. The Queen of the Dryads offered her a choice and despite having just met him, Ciri choose to stay with Geralt.

    — She was most likely born during the Belleteyn festival meaning her birthday is either the 30th of April or the 1st of May 1253.

    — For a short time, she was a pit fighter though much against her will. She had been kidnapped by a bounty hunter before being imprisoned, beaten, drugged and literally forced into the arena. After she is reunited with her adopted parents, she returns to Calremont and burns the arena to the ground.

    — She's sensitive about her facial scar and tries to hide it with loose strands of hair. She also mentions in game that she began unbuttoning one more button on her shirt because it tended to help keep eyes off her scar and somewhere else instead.

    — Caring for her swords is a super important part of her day. She treats them better than she treats herself, especially her silver sword which was a gift from Geralt.

    — Being a Source (a fancy word for a person born with innate and very powerful magical abilities) she'd be capable of being an incredible sorceress but has rejected her ability to use magic. She used to also be able to see the future (mostly whenever someone was going to die, fun at parties) and even use telepathy but it's doubtful these abilities will reappear anytime soon, if ever. Her ability is buried under a hella lot of trauma and self-hatred.

    — Despite having not lived as a princess for many years, it's mentioned she still has some noble-like qualities that have remained. Her glare is apparently the most noble thing about her and is said to resemble her grandmother's own famous glare. With that in mind, she probably knows how to dance and sing with an instrument or two (harpsichord, harp??) thrown in there somewhere.

    — Her absolutely adores horses. No really, they're the absolute best in her mind.

    — I've always pictured her with something akin to an eidetic memory. Since she has been shown several times to repeat back things that people have told her and things she has read or seen perfectly.

    — She stubborn, so so so stubborn. Once she sets her mind to something, you won't be able to change it without a fight.

    — Her name Cirilla is a corruption of the Elder Speech word "Zireael", which means "Swallow".

Maketh Tua | Star Wars: Rebels

    [personal profile] mismanagement 2016-02-13 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Soooo many headcanons. Ask me anything.

•Maketh is an only child. And despite all her posturing, she grew up as a poor farm kid on Lothal. She got shipped to an off-world Imperial academy when she was thirteen. Since cadets only get to contact their parents once a month for monitored calls and Maketh never had the credits to visit over the summer, she quickly lost touch with them. They died before her graduation. She has fond but vague memories of them, and didn’t mourn them so much as forgot they existed.

•Lothal is a really shitty planet to farm on and relied heavily on imported goods to survive. Unfortunately the supply lanes were often disrupted or cut off entirely during the Clone Wars, which meant that food shortages were common. The problem was not fixed immediately after the war ended and there was a huge black market for basic goods that the Empire silently encouraged in order to make the people as desperate as possible. Maketh remembers the food shortages and ensuring chaos very well, and considers the Empire a benevolent force that brought structure to an uncivilized place, rather than exasperating the problem and then swooping in when there was no one left to lead an organized resistance.

•She’s desperately thankful for her education, as it’s really the only thing that got her away from the same life that her parents suffered through. And since she went to the Academy on an Imperial scholarship, she’s especially indebted to the Empire itself. Something her instructors never let her forget.

•She copies the accent of her mentor/boss, Governor Pryce, to make people think she grew up on one of the inner planets.

•Huge control freak. No one is allowed to make her coffee or touch her uniform. She irons it herself.

•Probably one of the only people ever who had a genuinely positive experience at the Imperial Academy, where cadets are canonically encouraged to murder each other and make it look like an accident in order to prove their ruthlessness.

•Maketh lacks the pure ruthlessness required of military officers, hence the reason she was slated to a civilian tract instead of entering the Imperial Military.
•However if she were technically a member of the military, she’d probably be a lieutenant colonel.

•The line between civilian and military in the Empire is extremely blurry. To someone who doesn't understand the system, she definitely comes off as military. Mostly because her people skills are lacking.

•It’s sheer dumb luck that she survived the Academy at all, since she was not well liked by her classmates. Though Maketh isn’t consciously aware of this, several of her instructors were very fond of her and banded together to make sure that she survived a few of the more blatant traps that were set for her. Even so, a classmate did attempt to kill her in a live-fire drill her third year. To this day, Maketh has convinced herself it was an accident.

•Though she’s ordered people shot, she’s never actually killed anyone herself. However, she’s been conditioned not to think about it very hard and wouldn’t hesitate if the situation called for it. She’d get hit by it very hard later on, though.

•That being said, Maketh has been shot several times herself. As a minister, she’s not allowed to carry weapons or wear body armor. This is no way prevents people from taking pot-shots at her.

•Despite what people think, Maketh actually did have a life outside her job. She enjoyed going to local performances and hanging out playing holo-chess with some of the more educated citizens.

•She took the executions of the two soldiers under her command very hard and is starting to overcompensate by becoming extremely protective of people she’s only recently met.

•She identifies as gay, but hasn’t had a relationship in over ten years and really wouldn’t know how to go about one.

Z Delgado | Power Rangers SPD

    [personal profile] isacrowd 2016-02-13 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
    • Z is fluent in Spanish. She learned some from her parents, some from school, and some from other Spanish speakers she met when she was homeless. It's kind of a mish-mosh of regionalisms, but she makes an effort to keep it to what her parents' Spanish would've been. (At a Power Morphicon panel, Monica May, the actor who played Z, stated that Z is Puerto Rican.)
    • She played Robin Hood with Jack for five years.
    • She's seen a fair number of people die of starvation, hypothermia, and pneumonia, and she is determined to never let that happen to anyone she considers a friend. That's not to say she won't help a stranger out, but more that she keeps an especially close eye on her friends in that regard.
    • She was made fun of as a child for her ability to replicate.
    • She got into fights quite a lot both in school and when she was homeless, more so than Jack. She's more hot-tempered than he is.
    • Sometimes she would taunt the cops just for the hell of it. Her power made it easy to outrun them and mess with them in the process.
    • Some part of her does feel kind of dirty working for the very organization that fails to help people like her and that arrested her for daring to break the rules to save lives. However, she has resolved to be an agent for change from within, so she's okay.
    • It took her the longest time to not hate Sky, in part because she resented the fact that he acted so entitled to everything, but also because they're so much alike. Both of them are stubborn, intelligent, and devoted to their friends. These are also the reasons they were able to become good friends later down the line.
    • If she sees someone who's kind of hiding away from the world and looks like they might need protecting, Z is so there for them. She knows that feeling, after all.
    • She's not especially religious, but she remembers her parents were Catholic, so that's kind of part of her life when it occurs to her (which isn't very often).

    — he is the most terrible letter writer ever. ever.

    — cullen usually keeps it on the down-low because of his job, but he's a bit of a fereldan patriot. being called "dog lord" in kirkwall was never really an insult to him, and yes, he is still bitter over the orlesian occupation of fereldan. he will never not be.

    — he lied at the winter palace. he can actually dance. ballroom dancing is not his thing and he's terribly out of practice, though. what he is good at (though it would take some coaxing for him to ever admit it much less do it) is good ol' fereldan jigs and reels.

    — mr. overachiever can use a stupid amount of weaponry. word of god says, iirc, this includes the bow, and he was the one to shoot the flare when the inquisition escaped from haven.

    — he got the lip scar in kirkwall shortly after anders blew up the chantry and hawke & co skedaddled. it was a not-so-great templar recruit who gave it to him when they got fed up with cullen trying to make things not terrible in the gallows. he stitched it himself, which is why his lip is now lopsided.

    — he's got a Thing for women who can hand him his ass if they really wanted to.

    — he apparently smells like elderflower and oakmoss?? thanks, luka, for the info.

Emily | Until Dawn | extremely tl;dr lol

    [personal profile] unfollowing 2016-02-13 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
    • Emily is 19.
    • She's from Los Angeles, California.
    • Her mother is Japanese. Emily has been to Japan a few times to visit her family and take part in traditional festivals (mainly the ones related to specific ages). She's not especially invested in Japan, but it's part of her life regardless.
    • Emily is fluent in Japanese.
    • Despite her claim that her middle name is Danger, it's actually Rin. In Japanese, R and L sounds are interchangeable, so she can say her middle name is Lynn and it's not far from the truth.
    • She's an only child and was spoiled accordingly, which is easy to do when your parents are rich.
    • However, while she was by no means neglected by her parents, she did feel like they didn't pay much attention to her. Constantly getting good grades set the bar really high, so anything that most other parents would consider achievements that deserve rewards was just normal for Emily, so she never received any special treatment for excelling the way that she did. Conversely, this meant that any drop in performance was noticed and remarked upon, so Emily made it a point to excel in school.
    • She was that little kid who knew all the answers in school and got picked on for it, so she spent a lot of time on her own.
    • One time, a kid shoved her on the playground, and she shoved him back so hard that he hit his head and needed stitches. That was when kids started to be afraid of her.
    • She doesn't remember exactly how it happened, but she and Jessica became friends very young. Jessica wasn't as smart as her, but she also wasn't intimidated by Emily in any way.
    • Eventually Emily switched from being physically intimidating to being verbally and mentally intimidating to her peers. If people wanted her to be the rich bitch, then by golly that's what she would become.
    • She has a special hatred for weeaboos, not just for them being unapologetic and ignorant Japanophiles, but mostly because of a few especially awkward situations in middle school where one or two kids tried to get her to speak Japanese with them and told her all her clothes were sooo kawaii! She shut them down pretty quickly.
    • She is very insecure about all sorts of things, and she has a fear of rejection and abandonment. It's part of why she's so controlling. She's also really loyal as a result, until you mess with her.
    • She's a sophomore in college, majoring in marketing and business administration.
    • Mike was not her first boyfriend, but he was the first person she slept with.
    • When Jess calls her 'frigid' in the lodge, it's not entirely untrue, though it is a misrepresentation of the truth. Being someone so riddled with insecurities, Emily is very selective about who she trusts and to what extent she trusts them. It took her a long time to feel that comfortable and close with Mike, and to Emily, it meant things were Serious. On some level, it made her feel a little more confident. On another, it did the exact opposite, because was she good enough, would he leave her now, of course she was good enough come on, etc.
    • Hence, their breakup hit her really hard.
    • And Jessica's betrayal (which is how Emily defines Jessica's decision to date Mike) hit her even harder, because Jessica was the person who heard all about Emily's anxiety about the subject.
    • Matt had always been nice to Emily, but he was especially supportive when the mess with Mike and Jess happened. Emily started to see just how good a guy Matt is, and relatively soon after breaking up with Mike, Emily and Matt became an item.
    • Emily was not cheating on Matt. She genuinely cares for and trusts Matt.
    • In the bonus scene, Emily and Matt talk a fair bit about having sex, an interesting contrast to Jess's 'frigid' jab from earlier. This is because Emily did sleep with Matt pretty early into their relationship, since some part of Emily wondered if her initial hesitation about sex was a factor in her and Mike's ultimate breakup.
    • I have a lot of thoughts about the bonus scene, actually. When Matt asks her if she's ever done it outside, she lets go of his hands and walks away, which reads kind of coy and skittish, and plays dumb about what he's referring to. I think that, yes, she is being less uptight about sex with Matt than she was with Mike, but that it's more than a little out of her comfort zone to be that way. Not to say that she's averse or doesn't enjoy it, but probably that she's just not as into it as others are. Certainly enough that Jessica is able to comment on it when they argue in the lodge. This is all in spite of her teasing Matt about her lacy lingerie and him being close to getting lucky on the mountain.
    • Emily is more than capable of taking care of herself. She just doesn't see the point in doing anything if someone else can do it for her. Hence, although she's able to shimmy to safety at the cable car station on her own if Matt fails to catch her when she loses her balance, she much prefers to let him go first and be a hero.
    • She wants to reconcile with Jess, but she's really, really angry at her. Betrayal hurts. If Jess were to apologize, Emily would still take a while to warm up to her again. Still, she misses her best friend.
    • She also still cares about Mike, though only as a friend. Up until the point where he nearly shoots her in the basement, he is still one of the people she trusts most in their friends group. Much like with Jess, she would like to reconcile with him, but damn is it going to take a while.
    • She has mastered the art of fixing herself up after a long night out so that she looks immaculate.

    cecily trevelyan ; dragon age

    [personal profile] closerift 2016-02-13 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)

    • The reason she's "so old" and unmarried is that she was meant for the Chantry years ago, but has caused little scandals as acts of minor rebellion and has thus been able to avoid it so far... and then the Inquisitor thing happened.

    • In fact, taking up archery was a badly-hidden secret in another snub to her parents.

    • Though her arms are fairly strong because of training with the bow, her legs... aren't. As such, she doesn't have great stamina for running, but is a very good climber (using her arm strength to balance the lack thereof in her legs).

    • She's seriously ticklish on the undersides of her feet.

    • All the time she spent as a girl and young woman reading, following her older brothers around, and then learning to use a bow were not spent toward other, more domestic tasks, like cooking or sewing, and because of the latter, there are often a few badly-patched spots in her clothing as she insists on "fixing" them herself.

    • Cecily is intensely stubborn, will argue for hours, and has a very hard time admitting when she's wrong. On the flip side, she'll also work herself into the ground when she has her mind set on things (see the buried alive event).

    • Sometimes she exhibits a little nobility-bred laziness, staying up late chatting and flirting and sleeping in too much the next morning. More than once, Josephine has had to pull her out of bed to actually get work done, though she tends to drag her feet where diplomatic work is concerned.

    • She most often sides with Leliana's ways of doing things at the War Table.

    • Cecily is not a very good singer and trying to get her to do so is like pulling teeth. She does have minor talent with the lute, though they're all songs she learned as a child, before she abandoned the instrument.

    • When she first was brought to Haven and the Inquisition, she was a huge flirt with... just about everyone. It was almost like a vacation from what she perceived to be the trials and tribulations of her normal life and she regarded most things lightly. After Haven, though, she became much more serious, spending less time being frivolous and more time trying to do some actual good. She can be heard talking about "the good old days" as if it wasn't within a year or two in the past.

    • Though she sided with the mages, she's more inclined to sympathize with the templars, because her brothers joined the order. When she made the decision, though, it was half out of lingering spite toward her familiar, who hadn't taken well to her becoming a part of the Inquisition, and also because she truly believed the mages were the best shot at closing the breach.

    • That said, the red lyrium bizarre-o future that she and Dorian scared the shit out of her and, even after Corypheus' defeat, she has nightmares about it.

    • She likes cats and is indifferent to dogs, but she has minor to moderate cat allergies so, alas, she is usually without any pets.

    • One of her favorite hobbies in Skyhold was to read and gossip with Dorian in the library alongside a bottle or two of wine. She also pretends not to love (but totally loves) hearing Varric talk about The Tale of the Champion and what happened in Kirkwall because she has a low key celebrity crush on Hawke.

    • Some of her favorite areas have been the Emerald Graves, for its eeriness and beauty, and the Storm Coast, because she's not at all opposed to running around in downpours and storms.

    • The Winter Palace was definitely the hardest mission because not only did she have to be pleasant to building full of nobles, but a lot of them wanted to talk about her family.

    • Though she can't sing, she does dance fairly well, and spent her small amount of free time at the Winter Palace trying to convince other people to do so.

Henry "Hotspur" Percy | Bladestorm Nightmare

    [personal profile] hotspurred 2016-02-13 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
    ▪ Henry is a famous knight, widely known as “Hotspur”.
    ▪ He is near constantly in motion. If he's not pacing or moving about, he's gesticulating with his hands or head, or fidgeting in some minute way. Even when sleeping he tosses and turns.
    ▪ He is additionally fluent in French and Latin and is an avid reader, which is probably the only way to get him to sit still for more than ten minutes.
    ▪ Otherwise, extended stillness is a bad sign where he is concerned.
    ▪ His handwriting is beautiful, and given half a chance he would rather leave people letters than texts or phone calls, unless there is a need for rapid communication.
    ▪ He excels at anything physical due to a combination of natural athleticism, fantastic instincts, a lifetime of conditioning and single-minded dedication. He is quick to improve in this arena too.
    ▪ Social skills are his weakness, in good part due to his temper, and he has limited patience for situations that rely upon them. He tends to remove himself when he's had enough, without a care for how rude it comes across.
    ▪ Hilariously, despite being the most aggressive and wild of England's knights, he is also the haughtiest.
    ▪ His favourite kind of sparring is the kind where he comes out of it black and blue. He especially enjoys fighting an equal or superior opponent, since it presents a challenge to overcome while bettering his skill.
    ▪ He enjoys strategic games, and feels the same as above re: opponents.
    ▪ Surprisingly, he's actually a graceful loser.
    ▪ He's a terrible mother hen towards his very few friends.
    ▪ His tendency to be hypercritical towards himself and others has existed since his youth. How much is down to his personality and how much is due to having an overbearingly ambitious father is debatable.

I'm happy to ramble about his background/canon vs. history how does half of it even work?! sob, and any other bits of canon and headcanon!

How has Henry taken to the new technology in the world? He seems to understand his phone well enough, but what about microwaves?

What is he afraid of? Has this changed any since coming to Hadriel?

Any connections with this version of the character to Henry VI?

Also, how does the whole demon thing work in the Bladestorm canon? I haven't been able to find a lot of information on it.

    Peter Rumancek | Hemlock Grove

    [personal profile] werewolfing 2016-02-14 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
-Peter lets his scruff grow and doesn't cut his hair partially because he's lazy but mostly because cleancut and cleanshaven he looks about fourteen years old.

-He was bullied pretty hardcore as a kid, from the terrible combo of being poor, a gypsy, and the perpetual new kid. at some point when he was still very young, he decided he didn't need anyone other than his family.

-Peter and his mom have never owned a computer and he never had any friends before the Godfreys, so he's pretty computer illiterate, although he somehow canonically has an ipod.

-He can play the guitar well, and can muddle through a few songs on piano, but he never took to the violin.

-Even though he hates sports of all types, he secretly loves dancing.

-When he was little, horror films gave him nightmares, but he's always loved them anyway.

-Peter can sleep any time, anywhere, in pretty much any sort of situation, because he's used to crashing wherever they could.

-He wears lots of layers of clothes both to look bigger than he is and because it makes him feel protected from the world. hanging around with someone he's very comfortable with, he wears less clothing.

-He's not materialistic and judges people a bit for being too dependent on stuff to define them or their status in the world.

-Even though he's a smoker and a drinker, he doesn't like to be drunk in public. In general he prefers a steady buzz to being drank. He won't touch anything more hardcore than pot because he likes being in control of himself.

-It is a true canon fact that peter's skin smells sweet like puppies.

-It is also a true canon fact that he hates/fears police and doesn't like guns.

-Part of the reason Peter avoids fighting is that he's naturally disinclined to it, and part of the reason is that he hates the way it feels to be violent. He vastly prefers to be passive or snippy than to act out.

-When bored, Peter doodles on any available piece of paper. He also doodles while he listens, because it helps him remember things. This is easily confused with him doodling when he's not listening, because they look identical.

    -He's canonically bisexual.

-Peter has a thing for blonds.

-He's also canonically a crybaby, and totally okay with that.

    canon:
  • Lilith writes in loopy, slightly messy cursive and dots her i's with hearts, it's adorable.
  • She was teased as a kid for playing Dungeons & Dragons Bunkers and Badasses and just generally being a geek.
  • Here's her official profile and tl;dr she's 5'7", in her mid-20's, and likes the color pink. Also she has a million dollar bounty on her head oops
  • Her teammate/boyfriend Roland is the first guy she ever kissed.

    headcanon:
  • Her family was extremely poor. Lilith's mother died from illness when she was very young, maybe 3-4. Her father (and Lilith by extension) stole to survive, and they'd hitchhike or stow away on ships to get to different planets. She loved the traveling and used to be a pretty good pickpocket; she was 10 or so when her father died. STARTING OFF ON REAL POSITIVE NOTES HERE SORRY GUYS
  • Along with her canon love for Bunkers and Badasses, Lilith also has an encyclopedic knowledge of whatever the Borderlands equivalent of Silver Age comic books is. Don't ask her for her Spiderant-Man opinions, she'll talk your ear off.
  • The leather jacket she has is Old. She's definitely going to wear it until it's nothing but shreds.
  • She was killing monsters for bounties in her mid-early teens, but she didn't kill a person for the first time until she was 16 or 17.
  • I was gonna try to headcanon a star sign but I can't decide on Aries or Leo. Leo-Aries cusp????? idk??? :|a
  • Enjoys eating stuff that's super-sour or super-spicy on purpose. She's okay with sweets, but doesn't have too much of a sweet tooth.
  • Has a high alcohol tolerance!! She can outdrink Brick who is a dude like twice her size and she is so smug about it.
  • Never actually got a driver's license. A very exasperated Mordecai taught Lilith how to drive.
  • Lil will either wake up annoyingly early or at 2 PM, there is no in-between.
  • She dislikes crying and hasn't cried in front of anyone in years.
  • Kids make her vaguely uncomfortable and she's even awkwarder with them than with normal people.
  • Only like 3 people in the entire universe are allowed to call her by a nickname or pet name to her face. She haaaates it.
