ALSO since it's a tactics game and his nickname is hotspur, how is Henry with horses and mounted combat?
Thanks for explaining about the demons, that makes a ton more sense than the steam reviews.

The way gameplay works is that any character you're controlling can switch between different combat units at any time, and the "historical" figures each have a special squad which is an OP version of one of the base ones. So while they can switch and handle every possible unit, it's not really worth it unless their special squad is wiped out and you can't be bothered to revive troops with a pennon or by waiting in an allied base.
From an RP perspective, he's perfectly decent, but not the best amongst his comrades. Much of holding the Anglo-Scottish border was skirmishing, so he's got experience, and he jousts for sport. That said, sword and shield on foot is forever his number one. The historical origin of the Hotspur nickname works seamlessly with Bladestorm: he was constantly active at the border, and tirelessly subdued every outbreak of disorder by the Scots, so they nicknamed him thus and then the English court learned of it and adopted it too. In Bladestorm's character bio, they state: 'Constantly moving and fighting on the battlefield, he is also known as "Hotspur".' so the implication is more about the rapidness and willingness with which he engages fights.
I can only imagine! The details of the story are built up over the course of the mode, through conversations and narration, so it's only really because I went through them all with RP in mind that I can summarise it compactly. I don't think a casual player would bother to.

Ah, that makes sense. I don't play a lot of tactical games where you can control larger units, so this is a little new to me. Though it makes sense with what I understand of his combat abilities - skirmishes are essentially short, well controlled bursts, while it seems (I think?) that Henry's advantage as a shield user is that he can take a hit and just keep on going. Also the sort of thing that makes him super dangerous and/or helpful in a setting like this one, since so far there hasn't been anything a skirmishing line would be all that effective against.
....I have a thing about tactics >.>

Strategise away! His unique ability is ridiculous -- not only is it a damage nullifier, but it instantaneously hurts the attacker and stuns them, creating an exploitable opening. As it's a sustained type move, rather than having a set time skill recharge its recharge time is proportionate to use.
I love the fact that it means his shield is his greatest weapon and I think it's a very versatile talent too, rp-wise, since it allows him to fulfil multiple roles. Feel free to make use of it, hahaha!
