Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open February 22nd, and apps are open March 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.

Two quick points here as well:

1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!

Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R

SCENARIO ONE: SHOOTING HOOPS
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.

There you are, calmly exploring this super cool cave city, when all of a sudden you see something roll toward you. What could that possibly be? Why, it seems the Door has brought in some hoop snakes, which are definitely real.

Hoop snakes are poisonous and aggressive reptiles, able to pursue fleeing prey by grasping their tail in their jaws and rolling after them like a wheel. Wow, so efficient! Hard to get away from, though, and kind of... terrifying? If you want to get away, you better be a fast runner. Or maybe you should climb something. Good luck!]

SCENARIO TWO: YOU GOT THE BLUES
[You woke up this morning on the wrong side of the bed. Not the angry side - the sad side. Somehow, everything just seems to be going wrong, and you don't know why. You were out of milk for your cereal, the fruit you picked just yesterday is already going bad, and instead of getting frustrated all you want to do is feel sorry for yourself.

Even the good things aren't going too well. Maybe your friend just told you your hair looks nice today - doesn't that mean it looks bad the rest of the time? Probably. They've just been too nice to tell you. And your crush smiled at you - that probably means they know about your feelings and are getting ready to let you down easy. That's the only explanation.

No matter what happens, your mind is giving you the worst, most depressing interpretation. You can try to fight it and be aggressively upbeat - or maybe you just want to cry on somebody's shoulder. Yeah. That sounds good right about now.]

D E L I G H T

SCENARIO THREE: PUCKER UP
[For once, Hadriel looks rather lovely, all covered in snow and seasonal! Sure, it's not quite the right season anymore, but who really knows what month it is? Not the residents, and certainly not the gods. But for whatever reason, Delight has decided there should be snow on the ground and ugly sweaters in the shops.

And, of course, mistletoe. On your wanderings around the city, you may find yourself under the mistletoe with a friend or a stranger or even an enemy. Regardless of who they are and how you really feel about them, the mistletoe will give you a gentle compulsion to plant a kiss right on those appealing lips of theirs. You can resist if you want - it won't force you - but don't you kind of want to go for it?

This is a mini version of our Kissmas event this month!]

[This oaf will try his hardest. He clasps his hands together behind his back, as if what he's suggesting is completely innocent and true.] I think it's only a matter of time for the kiss, and that's why you're so eager to make a deal.

[It's time for awkward waiting it out, except x2 with Jacob Frye.] I think kissing me would be a pleasure.

[trainspotter]

[Spare him... There are too many dweebs here and all of them are coming for Ned.]

I could get you a mirror. [He could reflect on it, hahaha!!! No, Ned isn't a loser, so he won't say that out loud.] From you, I think I'm gonna need two favors.

[queensberry]

Two favors! [Jacob reels, leaning back out of his space like there was no chance of it happening now. Ned's hurt him. It'll last like, a few seconds, but he's hurt him.] I think you should owe me three favors for kissing you. How about that?

[trainspotter]

[Owe him! Owe Jacob Frye a favor!! He's totally past that, Jacob already cashed in on breaking him out of police custody, that is over. Or: Ned's eyebrows go up, and so do his hands, like calm down, tiger.]

Pass. I can hear it now; Ned, come kick the bricks around on somebody's rooftop with me, it's a favor! [Disregarding that there are no standard rooftops here, never mind that.] I don't have time for playdates, Frye.

[queensberry]

[There go his hands. Jacob raises his mockingly, ignoring the inevitable smirk returning to his lips. It was hard to make fun of him seriously, for whatever reason he didn't care to think about.]

We're miles and miles away from London and you're still calling yourself busy? If you're avoiding me and my playdates, you might as well be honest about it.

[trainspotter]

[Backflipping away from the kissing urge is just so easy when Jacob is such a doofus. Mostly. And maybe he is busy, Jacob doesn't know.]

We're in some godforsaken cave city and you still turned up to do me a favor. You are nothing if not persistent. Who's to say there's no work to be done here, hmm?

[Even if he was trying to avoid playdates, he couldn't... look at this.]

Only you could wake up in some shithole and try and start an enterprise, Wynert. Only you. [Jacob caves, laughing and dropping his hands in somewhat defeat. Somewhat.]

I like to get paid for my work, Wynert. No favors. One kiss.

[trainspotter]

[See, that's flattering. Ned shrugs with his hands up, like listen, maybe they could use an enterprise or two around here.] Somebody's gotta keep the wheels turning, Frye. Picture it—the Wynert Underground. It's got a ring to it.

[But anyway... Touching his glorious lips is clearly the payment here, the reward, so,] Remind me what work I still owe you payment for.

[queensberry]

[Wynert Underground... Jacob would make fun of it, but he's already planned to make another gang. He can't talk one bit.]

I'm not sure. I haven't seen you since you gave me the schematic to the Mars. [He learned the name, Ned, he's a good worker.] Maybe it's back in the vault. The vault I don't have. Take pity on the poor, Ned.

[trainspotter]

[It's great?? It could double as a train name, which makes it even better.]

You didn't even—? What do I give you anything for? [That's the best gun ever!! Why don't you have it? What the hell... Now he's distracted from the kissing issue.]

[queensberry]

[Oh... now he's going to feel bad. Damn. Jacob frowns, crossing his arms like he would make him look less guilty than he was.] If I had known I'd wind up here, I'd have it on me.

[Stop making him feel bad. He'll feel like he owes him or something.] I have your knife. That satisfying enough for you?

[trainspotter]

[Maybe he should agree to that favor. Just saying. Ned considers this genuinely—the knife isn't as nice as the gun, but he guesses that's fine.]

Sure, although I don't know what you'll be able to use it for around here, except remembering my boundless generosity.

[queensberry]

Maybe I like remembering your boundless generosity. Reminds me of when you didn't want any favors for already doing something you want. [Because Jacob totally doesn't want to kiss him. Yeah.]

I'm sure there's some people that'll give Blighters a run for their money. Or I can just show people, talk about how you want to kiss me.

[trainspotter]

Who says I want to kiss you? [He does, but earlier he was desperately sad that his glasses are round and not square, so clearly this cave is laced with... opiates, probably. There's something wrong with the air and he'll go down with this explanation. He folds his arms again, chin jutting defiantly as he looks at Jacob, like now he's just daring him to do it. The perfect crime.]

Somebody got your balls in a vice, Frye? Saying you want to kiss me's not the end of the world.

[queensberry]

Just like there's nothing wrong if you want to kiss me. [What children. Jacob leaned over him in... defiance. Yeah. Not because he'd like to get a closer look at him or anything. All about intimidation.]

I wouldn't blame you, Wynert. I am terribly handsome.

[trainspotter]

[Dork alert... Ned reaches up to put a hand on Jacob's shoulder and push - not hard, but as some healthy counter-defiance. Defiance-defiance. Mobius loop of defiance.]

Never mind that now. You first.

[Like Ned can get Jacob to move, hard put or not. Jacob's just going to step closer and put a hand on his shoulder, because defiance. Not because he's slipping in his resistance or anything.]

You first.

[trainspotter]

[Well, if that's how it's going to be, Ned will just fold his arms again and turn to face a completely different direction. This usually works??]

You're getting better at wasting time, Frye.

[queensberry]

[It usually works... and it does now. Jacob pulls to turn him back around, even if he can't bring himself to look at Ned's stupid face.]

I'd like to kiss you, for whatever reason.

[trainspotter]

[Rude and taking advantage of his tiny size, noted. Ned will look up at Jacob, to give him a look like he's totally won. Something.]

And my favor?

[queensberry]

[Jacob almost just admits defeat, but he catches himself with a little smirk.]

You get your favor if you admit it.

[trainspotter]

[lifts jacob up and physically throws him out of this cave

Or: Ned looks at him, considers, and holds up his hands in reluctant mistletoe defeat.]

Alright, alright. Against my better judgment, I wouldn't mind.

[queensberry]

Against your better judgement! [Jacob rolls his eyes, turning his head like he just might not kiss him after all. It lasts about two seconds before he's taking the lapels of Ned's shirt and leaning to press his lips to his. But uh. No big deal. It's fine.]

[trainspotter]

[Jacob Frye is a big baby, news at 11. Ned's still making this victory face until Jacob grabs him, at which point he has a split-second of surprise (somehow) before he's kissed. So he won that stalemate too, good to know.

Which isn't to say that he doesn't kiss back, because he does, but only for a moment before he's reaching up to peel Jacob's hands off his shirt and pull back. That's enough grabby hands, big guy.]

[queensberry]

[Kissing Ned was nice, but it was definitely only because of the mistletoe. The mistletoe is why he's smiling so much. Not smirking, smiling with no trace of smugness-- all the stupid plant above them. All of it.]

That wasn't bad. [He straightens up, choosing to focus on adjusting his top hat like he didn't look a happy idiot.] Not sure if it was favor-worthy, but I'm a man of my word.
