What is he afraid of? Has this changed any since coming to Hadriel?
Any connections with this version of the character to Henry VI?
Also, how does the whole demon thing work in the Bladestorm canon? I haven't been able to find a lot of information on it.

He has a reckless sort of bravery, so his only real long-standing fear at his canon point is Edward the Black Prince dying (...Bladestorm's application of history is quite something, you don't even know...) especially on his watch. Which obviously doesn't apply to Hadriel. The new ones he's gained so far during his time in Hadriel are the prospect of never returning home, and after the events of the buried alive event, a small amount of claustrophobia under circumstances that resemble the experience of being trapped in a coffin six foot under, i.e. pitch black, boxed in. He's sleeping either on top of his covers or with some form of light atm. It was really the first time that he's ever been truly helpless, so it impacted him. He's working on it.
Since they're derived from the same historical figure, there's a small amount of crossover in background detail and reputation. But the nature of Bladestorm prevents more than that because of the way it handles overall history, and though he has the same “hotspur” core (martially talented, aggressive temper, disdainful) he's definitely wiser, much more refined, reflective and actually possesses a degree of self-control – so I would say there's only a touch of Shakespeare used for inspiration. Which is very interesting, because Hal, as the choice of name suggests, is blatantly inspired by early Henry IV.
This is completely ridiculous btw. So, essentially a man who was a remnant of an ancient people sacrificed his soul to bring Diabolus (an evil godlike dragon who feeds on/is empowered by death and despair) into the normal reality – which at this point is mostly normal with a low level of magic but no heavy fantasy – from a nightmare realm. Diabolus then uses his own power to sort of meld the two and hordes of monsters spill into the world. So there are suddenly countless standard fantasy monsters devastating medieval France. Bladestorm is classed as a real time tactics game, so were talking huge numbers and large scale battles. They are in no way prepared for this to happen, because who would be? Since Diabolus is feeding on the carnage, he grows in power, possesses Joan of Arc because she's a symbol of hope and hope (being the opposite of despair) is all that keeps him from fully manifesting and annihilating humanity, draws in stronger creatures to create even more slaughter, grows further in strength... fortunately there's a sword that allows the wielder to magically control the monsters in its vicinity that Joan of Arc passes into the hands of a mercenary before she's possessed.
don't judge me it's a fun game with fun charactersHopefully that answers that?no subject
ALSO since it's a tactics game and his nickname is hotspur, how is Henry with horses and mounted combat?
Thanks for explaining about the demons, that makes a ton more sense than the steam reviews.

The way gameplay works is that any character you're controlling can switch between different combat units at any time, and the "historical" figures each have a special squad which is an OP version of one of the base ones. So while they can switch and handle every possible unit, it's not really worth it unless their special squad is wiped out and you can't be bothered to revive troops with a pennon or by waiting in an allied base.
From an RP perspective, he's perfectly decent, but not the best amongst his comrades. Much of holding the Anglo-Scottish border was skirmishing, so he's got experience, and he jousts for sport. That said, sword and shield on foot is forever his number one. The historical origin of the Hotspur nickname works seamlessly with Bladestorm: he was constantly active at the border, and tirelessly subdued every outbreak of disorder by the Scots, so they nicknamed him thus and then the English court learned of it and adopted it too. In Bladestorm's character bio, they state: 'Constantly moving and fighting on the battlefield, he is also known as "Hotspur".' so the implication is more about the rapidness and willingness with which he engages fights.
I can only imagine! The details of the story are built up over the course of the mode, through conversations and narration, so it's only really because I went through them all with RP in mind that I can summarise it compactly. I don't think a casual player would bother to.

Ah, that makes sense. I don't play a lot of tactical games where you can control larger units, so this is a little new to me. Though it makes sense with what I understand of his combat abilities - skirmishes are essentially short, well controlled bursts, while it seems (I think?) that Henry's advantage as a shield user is that he can take a hit and just keep on going. Also the sort of thing that makes him super dangerous and/or helpful in a setting like this one, since so far there hasn't been anything a skirmishing line would be all that effective against.
....I have a thing about tactics >.>

Strategise away! His unique ability is ridiculous -- not only is it a damage nullifier, but it instantaneously hurts the attacker and stuns them, creating an exploitable opening. As it's a sustained type move, rather than having a set time skill recharge its recharge time is proportionate to use.
I love the fact that it means his shield is his greatest weapon and I think it's a very versatile talent too, rp-wise, since it allows him to fulfil multiple roles. Feel free to make use of it, hahaha!
