Test Drive Meme #29
Welcome to Hadriel's test drive, and thank you again for your interest in the game! As always, our reserves page is here, and our applications page is here! Reserves open February 21st, and apps are open March 1st. Please remember that there is an app cap of 20 apps.
Two quick points here as well:1. Any thread made in Hadriel's test drive will be accepted as the sole Action Log sample in the application.
2. All threads made in the test drive can be considered game canon, either through handwaving or through a shared mental experience while coming through the Door!
Test drives will be broken up into specific god mini-events, during which your characters can see how well they fare under the watchful eye of one of the gods. Choose wisely or just simply pick 'em all, and have fun!

F E A R
SCENARIO ONE: FRACTURED FUTURE?
[The Door brings in all that is chaotic and evil in the world. This may include you, may include the person next to you... and may include the monster behind you.
This time, the Door has decided to bring in some monsters who already have a taste of what it's like to win their war. Welcome to the Risen, from the Fire Emblem franchise!
Risen are reanimated corpses, dedicated to obeying their master's will. While they have some form of sentience, they cannot be dissuaded from their goal and attack all who oppose them with a singleminded desire to execute their purpose, which unfortunately for you is "killing indiscriminately". Still, they're not all bad and some of them may even be relieved to finally be put to death. Have fun!]
T R A N Q U I L I T Y
SCENARIO TWO: ONLY THE GOOD STUFF
[Tranquility has decided to take over Hope's food supply regimen and- well, if anyone thought he was a self righteous hipster before, this is probably what's going to seal the deal. All the food provided in the shops is now extremely vegan-only, from basic lettuce to the most bland fruit you can stand to look at.
None of it even tastes like anything, either- it's all like you're eating water. Maybe to Tranquility, this is a feast, but for you, it's difficult to register that you're even full. Better start prepping those salt mines- it's gonna be a long month.]
R A G E
SCENARIO THREE: YANDERE LIFE
[Unfortunately for you, you came at a time when Rage was very unhappy with everyone- and now you get to suffer for it. Is there anyone who catches your eye? Anyone who you might want to get to know a little better? Well, you're about to get to know them a lot better, because now you're obsessed with them.
It's not the innocent kind of obsession, either- this is a full speed ahead, breakdown, pull out the knives and rope kind of obsession, where your desire to be near someone is synonymous with stalking, being a creep, and overall just not really anything remotely approaching healthy.
Better look out and hope that nobody gets a crush on you either.
This is a mini version of our Kiss me Kill me event this month.]

Goro Akechi | Persona 5
[ Well. Isn't this some sort of irony?
The last thing he remembers is that ship going nowhere, a mirror image of himself, and a couple of shots behind a partition wall. By all accounts, he should be dead-- or at least, given the torn and battered state of his black mask and knightly outfit and the sharp pangs of pain taking over assorted spots across his body, he certainly feels like death. Just like he had always been on the inside.
And yet, it seemed like higher forces - gods, or demons, what have you - never got quite tired of using him as a pawn to please their whims. It's how he's found himself breathing again, moving through the pain; surviving, the art he's so well versed at.
But why did it have to be alongside creatures like these?
He's tried to run, but his legs don't carry him far, tried to summon his Persona, but Loki seems to have pulled the ultimate prank on him. Once again, he's a puppet, but without batteries to pull him to action. Once again, the gods have tossed him in the arena without a good fighting chance. ]
Even among the likes of you, it seems I am still unwelcome. [ Said to one of the Risen who's finally managed to push him against a corner. Should he try to argue with the creature? He hardly thinks it would listen. But what other option does he have?
... ah, right. Perhaps the one he had been unconsciously holding on to all along. It feels so much like an extension of his own arm by now, it's no wonder he hadn't noticed. ]
Very well. [ He lifts the gun he once used to kill his poor excuse of a copy, takes aim at the monster with no guarantee bullets would work on the undead. Guess he's the perfect candidate to figure out one last mystery. ] I'll free you from your earthly bonds.
[ Good idea? No. Neither is trying to get in his way. Probably. ]
2. Tranquility
[ It's not as if he had been expecting luxury digs in a wasteland, or even the kind of popular restaurants he was so used to eating out at back home. Really, food had always been more of a conversation starter, a good common ground to try and socialize, maybe pick up a story or two on his way. He didn't even care for the taste of food-- with perhaps one exception he'd found in a shabby cafe, one that he refused to acknowledge.
Still, even he could tell the current selection in front of him was a little... extreme. Healthy was one thing, and not caring about flavor was another, but this? Very much like eating cardboard. ]
My work peers would often give me strange looks when I'd eat a single apple for lunch. [ He addresses the person next to him, voice soft and melodious, a perfect match for the pleasant smile he wears. ] But, given our current circumstances, I think that's a bad habit that might come in handy, haha...!
3. Wildcard!
[ ooc: If anyone would like to play anything from scenario three or plan something different for the other two, I'd be happy to! PM this account or hmu at
2
[You wanted that assessment of your diet, right, Goro? Of course you did, Brennan is a genius, she knows what she is talking about.
Stop her.]My husband would find all of this very lacking, but I am quite satisfied with the selection available to us. [Her smile widens as she says that.] Add seaweed from around the pools, and then there will be flavor to this. Tofu goes very well with seaweed.

WILDCARD for the wildcards: scenario three fun
I would've been so disappointed if you hadn't made that joke
as joker, i take bad jokes and puns to be my solemn duty!!!
as akechi, my solemn duty is to be better than you!!
"why cant we be friends" plays sadly in the bg
charles eyler | hello charlotte
[ If there's anything good to be said about his current situation, it's the fact that Charles is at least no stranger to finding himself in new-- and less than welcoming-- places. However, this time is shaping up to be a bit different.
Mainly because of the company.
And even though he's been dead for quite a number of years, he's found that it hadn't stopped him from being able to feel pain, from being able to be hurt. So if there's one thing he knows he can do, it's run away.
Maybe you also needed an escape buddy. Maybe he has accidentally ended up in your hiding spot. Maybe you're running towards those creatures, in which case he's stopping (because you're probably getting mauled, and that would be bad) and calling out-- ]
Wait!
scenario two;
[ Well, this is probably his first time food shopping in decades; maybe this is just what food is like now. Even if it's not, it's probably the best way to ease back into having a mortal body that needs food. So while you're trying to find something, anything, worth eating, you might be running into someone who's just picking food like the selection is totally normal. While reaching for what seems to be the last box of the world's answer to "what if saltines were even more bland," he notices someone in the vicinity, pulls his gloved hand back. ]
Sorry, did you want these?
other;
{ different scenario? something from these but different? who knows?????? feel free to contact
scenario two
Huh?
[ Nope, she's certainly not considering that box of saltines that may well be made of wax. Jin shakes her head with a polite smile, then picks out her own selection... Alas. She deposits the plain crackers back in their original place with a sigh, and a more dejected shake of her head. Maybe it's time to ask someone else for help by now. ]
Ah, would you know if there's more... [ Jin gestures with a hand, somewhat helplessly ] ...interesting food around here?

I need more icons. Yes, more icons indeed.
you could use the duck for one...
Yessssss I need to make it as one.
agent maine | red vs. blue
let's go with option two.
It turns out the answer is "pretty easily, if someone has dragged you in." It isn't terribly difficult for Maine to do, either, considering the fact that he's got nearly a foot of height and who knows how much weight on Charles.
This definitely beats getting maimed by zombies, at least for the current moment, but he's got a look on his face like he expects things to get worse, after he's been shoved onto the stool.
The guy isn't even saying anything, which somehow makes it worse. For now, Charles will attempt to look slightly indignant, which is difficult given the situation. ]
Isn't this too obvious of a place to hide?

Ahsoka Tano | Star Wars
[There isn't enough time for her to think about what's going on and how to react because suddenly, she's swarmed by enemies.]
Oh well...
[She says to herself as she force-pushes back one of the Risen. It's a bad habit of hers, talking as if there's still someone around to hear all her witty remarks. Like that even qualified as a remark, Anakin would probably have- No time to think about that. No time to think about anyone seeing her use the Force either or even... Ahsoka backflips away from the onslaught of enemies, trying to get an idea of what exactly she's up against it. When she lands, she draws her lightsabers quickly and parries an attack from an enemy that gets a little too close. The person(?) doesn't even react as their arm is cut clean off.]
That's not normal. That's definitely not normal!
[Ahsoka scans the area around her, wondering how she'll make it out of this when she spots someone else off in the distance. They're surrounded just like she is, but it seems that all she needs to kick herself into gear. She jumps over her attackers and races to close the distance between herself and the other seemingly not an enemy person. As her sabers slash through the Risen, she calls out,]
Run! I can handle them!
II. TRANQUILITY
[Don't mind her, just grabbing random food and shoving it into her mouth. Every time she does, though, she groans at her eventual conclusion. She takes a bite of one thing, then another, and so on, but it's always the same result. Ahsoka looks to whoever's nearby with a somewhat desperate expression.]
Look, I know I'm new here and all, but this can't be what everything's supposed to taste like. Right? ... right? Please tell me I'm right.
[That said, she continues eating the food she previously rejected. She doesn't want to waste it, after all!]
III. WILDCARD
[Let me know if you'd like to try something else with Ahsoka! I'm playing her from after the novel which means she's 18 and her lightsabers are white, if anyone cares.]
2
[Brennan has a bowl of beans and potatoes in hand. She looks pleased with it despite its blandness.]
In fact, it was not uncommon to find things that tasted completely foreign, including fruits from the old orchard. [She really misses the orchard...] If you are enjoying this, you would have loved the orchard.
Eleanor Shellstrop | The Good Place
A. Fear;
[Eleanor had to admit, being chased by red eyed zombies was far more in line with what she thought a hellish afterlife would be like than what she's already went through. She could almost give Micheal or Vicki or whoever sprung this one her props for this. Well, she could if hearing about the bears didn't make this seem a little less creative in comparison.
And the fact she was a little busy running for her life. Again.]
How is this even fair? You can't kill me again!
[At least she hopes they can't. That's a thought to let Chidi have a crisis about later. If she ever finds him and escapes the wannabe zombies.]
Eternal damnation shouldn't involve this much running!
B. Tranquility;
What is this? Are they feeding rabbit? Some millionaire's plastic second wife?
[There's a blonde woman angrily swiping lettuce leaves from the shelves and dropping them on the ground in revulsion. She might be gagging to exaggerate her point. She's definitely kicking the plants way from her feet.]
Even Micheal let me have shrimp. A demon didn't go this far with the torture. How did I end up somewhere worse than the bad place?
B
It's not usually this bad. Sometimes it looks like one thing but tastes like another. But it almost always has a taste.

youngil cho / original
( She's almost got it. Almost. It's been three weeks without incident. Without Youngil's powers spiralling under the effects of shock and surprise, targeted only at those who would stop them in fulfilling Iseul's quest.
She is not a soldier. And she is not The Giver's plaything. Not any of the things that plague the back of her mind. She's a woman fighting the gods themselves and she will make use of the skills given to her to do so.
Right now, however, Youngil is a woman who's woken up in dirt and dust, under the scorching sun...s? Yes, suns, plural, of a world she's never known.
And promptly ran into the glowing eyes of a decaying beast. )
Fuc-
( It's been
threezero weeks without incident, as thick black smoke pours from Youngil's pores, coating the surrounding area. Her eyes widen and her legs go stiff, and she sees someone who doesn't look like the freshly risen undead. )You should run.
( Her voice trembles as she says that, and you may want to listen, judging by the way that smoke aims straight for the throat of the corpse that alarmed her, indiscriminate in its mission to eliminate a threat. )
Now.
tranquility/ you got me thinking
( The terror of one's arrival set aside, and the frustration of being stuck in a new city when you are mid-world changing quest, goddammit, Youngil settles in quickly.
She may be a little too used to the idea of simply picking what you want off shelves and not paying for it, but we digress. A girl's gotta eat, and... well. Everything's green. And fresh. Which is a damn sight nicer than some of the things Youngil has consumed in her life. )
Lettuce see...
( Youngil no. Youngil please. )
All this time, I've bean looking for something just like this.
( Yes, yes that is a tin of kidney beans. Please stop her. )
wildcard/ did you see the warning lights?
( Hit me with anything, this is just me voicetesting after all )
Link | Hyrule Warriors
(The light catches the steel of the sword as it swings through the air to cut into yet another dark opponent. Their attacks continue, but Link doesn't pause in his own advance.
Somehow, he'd been teleported. The environment has changed, and now, the destined hero is unable to find Zelda or the other troops. Normally, the battlefield was loud and difficult to miss, but the night is full of a more muted terror. Now, he runs through the streets and defeats the Risen he can find.
In the distance, he sees a Risen with raised arms, ready to attack another figure. Link's speed increases as he slices yet again.)
Are you okay?
(The battle pauses momentarily as he checks in on the potential victim.)
tranquility
(Blue eyes stares up at the menu, his gaze moving across the items again and again. Some of it bears names beyond recognition for Link, and those he recognizes isn't really something he might enjoy. Finally, he concedes and orders a selection with a name foreign to him in hopes it contains chicken or beef.
It doesn't. When the food is finally served, Link picks at the Tofu, confusion clear on his face. A bite reveals the Tofu is neither well cooked nor well seasoned. Rather, it's tasteless.)
What is it meant to be?
(Is it a bad version of a good dish or a normal version of a bad dish?)

Miriam Day | Original
[There are dead things following her and Miriam doesn't have a gun. She's got the Commander's big armored coat that hangs on her like a blanket and her dog, and a pulsing ache all the way up her right side. Sometimes she tries flexing her hand, closing her fingers around something before she remembers the hand is gonegonegone and sometimes she bangs the stump against something and it hurts.
It's not a good day. She's had much better. But she has the Commander's coat and even better, she has Barnaby.
The dog noses her hair, whining. She pets him. Tells him it'll be all right.
Because it will. She's smart. She'll figure it out.
Currently, Miriam and Barnaby are sitting on top of a large pile of rubble, high enough that most of the dead things can't reach. She gives a tentative wave with her good hand when she sees you.]
Hey, mister. Could use some help up here.
Tranquility
[There's free food, so she's taking advantage. Or intends to, anyway. Miriam tips the entire contents of her plate onto the floor. Barnaby sniffs at the offerings hopefully, then looks away with a whine.]
Aww, c'mon buddy. It can't be that bad, can it?
[The dog sneezes.]

The distance is too short for her to run after them and make it in time. For more than one time that evening, she wishes she had her side arm with her, as she can only rely on her power gauntlets for so long, but the woman clearly needed help.
At some point in the evening, Sonya had acquired a set of throwing knives from one of the Risen she'd taken out. She reaches for one and throws it at the creature after the woman; it lands home right in the center of its back. While not killing the creature outright, it was enough for it to turn it's attention towards her instead of the woman.]
Kelson Haldane | Deryni Chronicles
The food here had taken getting used to. He'd at last figured out how to open the cans(turns out telekinetically prying the cans apart, or bashing them with rocks isn't the appropriate method. He had ever so hoped so. It wasn't exactly convenient.) The only problem now was taste. Being a king he was used to a wide array of tastes, from lavish venison with gravy to scraps they put together during war. He'd even been forced to survive off of religious offerings (turns out grain does go bad!) and fish without eyes when he was trapped underground. In his experience, food should have eyes. Food without eyes was deeply disconcerting.
But he was also pretty sure he knew what some fruits and vegetables were supposed to taste like. Unless these were....special varieties bred to not offend the palate, they were rather tasteless.
"I don't suppose there's any food around that might actually fill someone up? One cannot survive on this alone." Nor does one want too.
Rage
Fortunately for everyone involved here, the object of Kelson's unrequited desire was not here. What was the issue then? Perhaps something about you reminded him of Rothana. Maybe you had dark hair, or there was something in your eyes. Maybe there was a haphazard brushing of minds and the young king flashed back to their brief touch. He realized as quickly as he reached out to grab the arm of the passing stranger you were not the woman who rejected him, and quickly let go. That didn't mean he was going to go away, however.
Kelson fiddled with the small gold band on his pinky finger, a wedding ring two women had worn. Needless to say both times it ended badly. Don't let him give it you. Oh, were you trying to leave? He reached out again.
"Stay."

That's jerk for why don't you just leave me alone?

Cassandra Pentaghast | Dragon Age: Inquisition
[ If you're going to be fighting zombies alongside someone, you could do worse than Cassandra.
The concept of the undead isn't new to her, unfortunately. Between spirits possessing dead bodies on the battlefield and the unpleasant rumors surrounding the Mortalitasi back in Nevarra, she's...less surprised than she might be to find herself surrounded by mindless, glowing-eyed corpses. She's also ready to fight, as she always is, blade drawn as she positions herself defensively between her companion and the enemy. ]
Stay behind me!
Tranquility
[ She's had worse food, surely. Much better food, too, though there's no use dwelling on that now. There's plenty of it, which is something, but it's all so...bland. Even Fereldan food isn't this tasteless.
Still, she's not about to complain about healthy, abundant food. Instead, she sits and eats mechanically, looking vaguely depressed about the whole thing. Maybe the menu will include something more interesting tomorrow? ]

Sonya Blade | Mortal kombat
[She thought the end of the invasion would allow her a respite; allow her to mourn for the fallen and help regroup and rebuild. The war was a week ago, and the nightmares were still fresh; she thought she might've been allowed atleast some time before the universe decided to toss her into another one.
She should've really known better then to make that assumption.
Instead of a chance to mourn the loss of friends and allies, Sonya found herself fighting off more inhuman enemies at the behest of some power hungry god. Her power gauntlets were able to stun and disable several, but until she knew more about this place she had to reserve their energy. Instead, she nabbed several daggers from the fallen zombies, strapping them on her before going about her way.
There was no set destination in mind, but these things were everywhere and she couldn't allow herself to hide, when others might not be able to fight them off so easily. Of course, the chance at taking out her anger on killing Risen was difficult to pass over, more than her need to check with others who might need assistance as well.
The sound of movement behind her caught her attention and she immediately turned to face them, knives out in case she needed them.]
Tranquility
[Having traveled in many places as she had, Sonya had been to plenty of places were fresh fruit and vegetables were hard to come by. Hell, there were times when she had to live off of MREs for a week and would've killed for something fresh. Yet, what she was seeing and tasting from the shops was clearly going overboard.
She was eyeing the 'fruit stalls' when she saw someone come near her.] How long'd you think before people start raiding places to look for spices.

[These monsters are nothing like what Edgar has seen before in his life -- which, in fact, is quite impressive in his mind. He had even tried to take contact to them after waking up in this strange place. The monsters sure had pinged his interest as they appeared not to be quite living nor dead.
Unfortunately, all his communication attempts had turned out to be in vain as none of them responded to him. Or rather, they responded with aggression which left him with no other options than meet fire with fire. And then, just like that the arena turned more more grim and grotesque than before as all the monsters dropped The blood was spilled along the guts while some others collapsed without any signs of injuries on them.
Wearing a rather nonchalant expression on his face he wiped the blood off his hands on his dark clothing, trying not to let the harsh yet strangely sweet smell of iron bother him. Well, well, he thought to himself, time to check out his whereabouts properly. -- However, before he could get into the task another slow -- seemingly pained groan reached his ears.]
Who goes there?
R A G E
[Whether you were somewhere in the city, in the garden or perhaps even inside of your own private quarters there's a pair of icy blue eyes staring at you from the shadows. The discreet yet observant eyes follow your every move and action no matter what you do or where you go. You might even notice the small lingering shadow stalking near you around the shady and forgotten corners but even then the shape disappears before you manage to give it a second thought.
Only when you're completely alone and the least expecting it a silent hand reaches out from behind you, curving around your waist to the front. If or when you react and turn around you'll be met with a young looking boy, lips rosy and pink along with his cheek, curly hair dark and brown and eyes bright blue -- carefully looking nothing but at you. ]
Here. [He says with a surprisingly gentle voice, no matter whether you reacted with a amusement, fear or anger, and he raises his hand up to offer you a red flower.] For you.
rage
She's suspicious. Always so suspicious. And, in this city, after so long, what right doesn't she have to be? ]
What the... Look, why don't you go bother someone your own age, I'm kind of busy. [ Too busy for teenagers that may or may not be affected by one of the local gods. She's not interested in flowers and she's definitely not interested in someone who looks a little young for her tastes (it doesn't help that her physical age doesn't match her chronological age) ]

minsu oh | original
[free food is a good thing, even if most of minsu's food was always free. there is just one problem with this:
none of this is food, not by his definition. the first thing that minsu found in the shops was tofu and canned cabbage, and the fox swore to anyone listening that he'd rather starve. desperation brings him right back within a couple of hours, time enough for him to feel like he really is starving. he opens things right there on the floor, shoveling it in until his cheeks bulge and it looks like it's hard for him to swallow. minsu presses the back of his hand against his mouth, chewing a few more times. there's a definite air of panic about him.]
Hell is a real place. I've found it.
rage:
[minsu's curiosity is easily piqued. just say one too many kind words to him, and you might end up with a minsu-shaped nuisance on your hands. he is by nature, a little bit much, even when he doesn't mean or want to disrespect another's boundaries.
but he's never felt anything like this before. it terrifies him to think that it has something to do with his hunger, but no. this is something different.
he was behind you a little while ago. time has passed and the location has changed, and he's still there. and if minsu even thinks that he has your attention, he'll close that distance between the two of you.]
It's not safe to be out here alone. Let me stay with you?
[and he's not talking about just the walk, he means forever.]
wildcard:
[hit me! be it something from the fear option, or you want to reverse roles for rage. or plot something entirely by PM or at
rage.
which means yes, noctis will be kind, and minsu will have his attention when he turns around and stops at the question. ]
Uh -- you must be new here, huh? [ because that's pretty much how noctis is parsing that question: it's intimidating to be here all alone, and he supposes it's a pretty hard landing for some new arrivals. so he does the best he can, because he's just that kind of person, for better or worse.
currently, unbeknownst to an unsuspecting noctis, this situation belongs quite firmly in the latter category. ] Are you feeling unsafe? Is someone after you?

Bardock | (AU Dragonball Z)
[Saiyans love the heat of battle considering they are a warrior race. However that doesn't mean they have seen everything life has to offer.
[But with the Risen at the door, and a god named Fear breathing down his neck, these things expect to scare him?]
Bardock grunted and with a hand out, a few balls of ki flew out of his hands flying into the Risen who were neither living or dead]
"Heh... pointless."

Tranquility; because it was too good, I couldn't help it
Kelson was holding a head of lettuce, looking less than pleased with his dinner prospects. "Quite. This Christian most definitely had better food than this. I don't suppose there's anything we can hunt?" Because he was not having lettuce for dinner. Absolutely not. Call it his royal prerogative. Contrary to his mother's belief, fasting was not good for the soul.
He was eyeing where you spit, however. Manners. Honestly.

[ Naturally, Dany is sitting nearby, regularly keeping the company of her Hand since his arrival to Hadriel. She chuckles dryly, glancing from his sampling of this... unusual 'food' to her own, untouched plate. ]
But you would have to travel to one of the bars to find it. [ The word is still strange on her tongue, and she makes a bit of a face with its use. ] We can go, once you've finished.

tranquility. The normal kind?
It happens too late. A snap-back to reality in the very same moment as she starts to bend in order to scoop it up and the withering look on his face tells the story of his disgust well. There is no way to backpedal. They've both seen it, they're both aware of it and neither of them will be spared this awkward moment.]
Pretty sure the five second rule doesn't apply if it's been in your mouth already.
[Still, gentleman that he is, Tony's gaze flits across the store front for a bin-- or other receptacle to dispose of the mess and he sort of kick-slides a barrel between the two of them.]
as normal as she gets, unfortunately :\

Syeira, Gorion's Ward | Baldur's Gate II: SoA
"Now what?"
The petite young woman came through the door, just completely exasperated. Her softly glowing chainmail shirt and her iridescent cloak were a bit dirty, a bit bloody, her swords already in her hands. Only one was painted in a mirror of drying crimson, the other flickered with subtly licking flames, that must have burnt away any would be stains. She had a mass of blood red curls adorning her head, and green eyes that had the faintest flash of gold, sometimes, when she turned just so.
She was tired, half running on adrenaline as it was, and now stumbled through some strange portal to yet another unknown place. And on top of that, she was surrounded by distinctly unfriendly looking people. At least that part was familiar.
"Any chance you're Ellesime's people?" As they advanced on her, she rolled her shoulders, raiding her swords to ready. "I didn't think so."
She was a whirlwind of death, more dancing her way through the battle than anything. She was as fluid and graceful as she was brutal. Syeira might not be very big, but this was her legacy, her birthright, much as she loathed it sometimes. Death was quite literally in her blood.
Tranquility
"It's not all bad."
She might have been talking mostly to herself. Convincing herself that the flat...cabbage?? wasn't actually the most unsatisfying thing she's ever put in her mouth. Which was really saying something, since she was not a good cook on her best days.
"Could be burnt? Maybe it is burnt, and I just can't tell..." She was definitely taking to herself, also the cabbage. Maybe it was lettuce. What else had that...cabbagey shape?
"The things I would do for dry rations, right now." She said it directly to the cabbage, so it would understand how little it was appreciated. "At least they have enough self respect to have flavor."
Tranquility
"Perhaps a bit of fish would go down better? It's even freshly caught, for that's the only way to get meat, at the moment."
He's tall, grey-eyed and dark-haired, and he spotted red hair and thought it was his brother, at first, but he's not about to leave a lady with the sort of rations that are currently in the shops.
